i was looking at comodo time machine and wonder if it is any good or is windows system restore better?

if you want to clone your HDD, theres a heap of free stuff out there.

personally i suggest making backups, and just reinstalling windows when shit hits the fan.

thanks for the repply
when shit hits the fan i just restore my system with acronis but when i have something little go wrong i use system restore in windows i was just wondering if comodo time machine was better then windows system restore.and its free

i've always disabled system restore and never replaced it with anything... i find the idea useless.

oh yay you reverted my registry to before the virus hit! but all the apps i installed in the last 6 months dont work, so i might as well have formatted anyway

That is my preferred method of system restoration also. It removes any crap from the registry that may be left over from app removal, and it allows you to conteplate if you really want to put "FreeGoatPornInstaller.exe" back on your system.

If you need to have the ability to restore a system, I would recommend using just about anything other than the built in system restore. I've had systems become totally trashed after attempting a restore after a simple driver mishap.

I wouldn't go that far. It has it's place especially for less experienced, simple home users in this age of malware. Is it the best method for not only fixing software problems but keeping your machine running at it's best? Absolutely not.
