A group can also be a team, I agree that in most cases to be an effective team you have to have a common goal however there is often complete autonomy within some military "teams" to do pretty much what they want within a very loose set of objectives, in essence objectives are set, how they are achieved is often discretionary. You are right in so much as a forum membership does not have that common goal or objective and that is why elements fail but the thing is, even here there are groups within groups and I can see teams, for example, its little surprise that most reports for outright bad behaviour come from more longstanding members, probably because they want the community to conduct itself to a standard, the mere fact that you keep coming back having been banned so many times suggests that aside from being Pig Headed you have a mild sense of belonging.... ohh look your in a team! :p :lovetpu:
I wouldn't call TPU a "team". We are more of a pack of feral neckbeards with a common taste in silicon.

Even as a founding member of the "DEEZNUTZ" crew made up of exclusively TPU members we agree on pretty much nothing except @crazyeyesreaper is a camper.

As for me still being here.......well I refuse to be ran out of anywhere. The first time I was banned you guys created a monster. lol

My most painful experience as a mod of a small forum was when a supposedly mature and respected member lost a gear or two in his head and started acting like a total mofo.

Eventually had to swing a ban hammer but it never gives good tastes in your mouth when you lose a long-time member. For a small forum, losing such a member leaves a noticeable gap.
I have issues with ban-hammers that are one and done. Usually means that forum isnt open to free speech and opinions are forbidden. I prefer the progressive ban, 2 warnings then start the bans for increasing periods of time. Years ago several game forums used to have a Flame Forum where you could openly attack someone without retribution as long as you kept it there. Flame someone anywhere else in a discussion usually ended in banning for a while.

In a civilized world, wait nvm, there isnt one...:D

Been a member since 06 as a young teen. Was distant for a reason... learned a lot but also couldn't handle the passive aggressive behavior especially from pro intel individuals. I remember when I favored AMD and would get private PMs about how much AMD stunk. And hey thanks for replying to my GPU thread !

What's got me is these newbies who come in start trolling and won't stop, or one post wonders, I think those should be deleted, it would help with maintenance of the site even, less info in the database to carry on further and further every year.

That's the big problem here.
No, the problem here is that some people don't know how to apply it without insulting others, it's often those that throw the insults who shout freedom of speech (not aimed at you in this case), if anyone really does want the freedom to attack/abuse/insult anyone however they see fit they don't really want a forum and community, they want Facebook or general anti-social media.......... my opinion only of course :D Knowing everyone reads the guidelines in detail before they register, why would they bother joining if they wanted that freedom, they clearly state those types of behaviour are not tolerated.............. it's a natural condition though, shout the loudest to try to get heard.

We got bigger and grew with more members, I agree it was different then but a growing memberships brings with it the risks of shall we say, a more socially diverse community.

Not if all the new members wanna do is flash their GPU bios then make threads begging someone to tell them how to fix it

How so? From what i see people can speak whatever they want as long as they keep it in civilized manner. I've had couple of my posts deleted, but only because i quoted a person that got banned afterwards for being "not so nice to talk to" :)
I really love what mods do on this forum.

It doesn't work that way, otherwise a few Members in here wouldn't be pissed off when i say that Intel is better than AMD:kookoo:

Being "pissed off" and banned are different things. Being a fanboy isn't an easy thing :) Currently i do prefer Intel over AMD as a gamer and i stay away from all "Ryzen" threads. Just let them be happy for the moment and no problems :)

Being a fanboy isn't an easy thing :)

My opinion is: Let the Fanboy be Fanboy even if he sounds extremely ridiculous he is the one who spend his own money for his hardware and if he has his own preferences on hardware/manufacturers that shouldn't touch no one.

i stay away from all "Ryzen" threads.

The same here.

Now, you guys think it is bad here? Try real world.

Almost every day I get to deal with dumb people and all of these encounters come to the following few situations:

1) A person wants to buy a desktop/laptop/other stuff. They ask for professional advice, while they've already made a decision. It all comes to long and boring arguing until I either give up and agree (even though I disagree), or the person gets mad and buys whatever he/she decided regardless of my advice. This also relates to Intel/AMD/NVidia fanboys.
2) A person wants to fix something very new or really expensive, and after hearing the approximate repair price gets mad. Attempts to repair it at home, and ends up bringing it back to me to pay even more in order to fix the original problem, and the ones he created afterwards.
3) A client get's mad when I don't want to give any advice or fix anything that is older than my neighbors kid. Gets even madder when I reveal the best case scenario: "Throw this away and buy a new computer".
4) Know-it-alls , who dare to tell me how to do my job.

So, basically just like here on TPU, but sometimes there is some cash involved and you are almost always within a reach to slap a person (if required) :slap:

Now, back to OP.
It's not the TPU community , it's the way the world is. For some it takes a lot more effort to learn, than argue without actual arguments or facts.
Plus some of us get older and imminently will become those "grumpy old guys" that keep on babbling about "back in a day".
Mix both together - and you get an ultimate sandbox of madness.

Freedom of speech has to go both ways.

Like saying "F-ck U" to a random stranger on a street and expecting no reaction in return is foolish at best.

I think we all learn this at one point of our lives: "When there is action, there is reaction." I know it's science term but works in real world as well.
One can express all he want but better expect consequences.

Absolutely no, and i would disagree if someone says that it's bad here, the problem is that some Members including some Mods the way that they react doesn't fit with this forum.
