Outside of the Blade series their ram was always mediocre to horrible.

G.skill has pretty much taken over everything for performance ram. Corsair is still there but you can only find their crazy kits at their website and they charge twice as much for the same shit.

I've had terrible luck with OCZ memory -no loss on my end

snipers any good? found an 8gb kit for $35 shipped

I've never seen any complaints about them outside of styling, but the performance on them runs the gamut. From 1333 cas 9 to 2133 cas 9. For $35 though even the slowest would be a decent deal.

Yeah I bought the 8GB 1600 Sniper Kit (9-9-9 and 1.5v iirc) on Shell Shocker for $30 and running them 1800 9-10-9 with like 1.58 on P55. G.Skill Tech said they should be good to 1866 or so but I havent had much luck going higher trying up to 1.65v.

That's the other nice thing about G.Skill stuff--if you post in the support forum over at XS and dude will respond. And fairly quickly too. Can be specific; he has always been very helpful going back to the DDR1 days (though back then I would email him).

I've bought tons of Ripjaws and they just about always overclock to the next speed bin with the same CAS latency, at least in my experience with the newer ones. Haven't bought any other brands of RAM in nearly 3 years except for the $35 Team Elite 8GB set for a cheapo build.

And yes, OCZ exited DRAM and does SSD's and stuff for higher profit margins.

i was wanting to find some older bbse chipped sticks but also tempted with the 2x4gb kits out now.

im not much of a mem clocker so i guess 8gb would be better

what are some other good kits out these days?

I've been tempted to get some of that stuff since it's low profile, but I ended up getting an H60 so I don't really need to space. I couldn't imagine using anything but G.Skill or that Samsung RAM these days. Corsair is overpriced for what they offer, Kingston I've never liked, Mushkin is spotty at best, and Patriot hasn't been good since the DDR2 days. The only other company I've really had great luck with was A-DATA, but they are apparently focusing on SSD's much like OCZ.

@Wrigleyvillain

Loosen up TRFC a tad, may be able to squeeze more out of them (thanks sneekypeet ;))

@Fitseries

Yeah they have been gone for a while now. Running Ripjawx currently, anything Mushkin also works really well on P55.

what worked good on p55? i dont really want bare sticks

Should work for p55...These sticks stay cool to the touch unless your stress testing them.

Mine is on the 1155 dual channel.

My sexy blue gskill ripjaws sticks go 1866mhz 8-9-9-24, and they weren't very expensive.

:o :D

i need something that fits my color scheme but OCs decently. i really dont like much of whats out today.
