Title my dear friends!

advantages of a 7100? (apart from more Mhz on the core)

its ridiculous that here in my country the difference on price between those 2 is 30 dollars plus for the 7100. Jeez.

One is kabylake and one is skylake.

kk guys i know that, but maybe i dont do the right question, i dont see why you need to pay more (at least here) for a processor that spec wise its 90% the same but only 200Mhz faster, so people can stick with a 6100 instead of buying the 7100 for, what, netflix 4K?

... for the 200 mhz.

What answer are you looking for... because it's that and the fact it's the latest gen. Not better per say, newer. Simple.

k, clear, but what about memory, can i XMP a memory to 2400, 2666, 3000 Mhz, etc. with an 6100 or 7100? (memory supported course) (on intel page says 6100 supports only up to 2133 and 7100 to 2400Mhz)

Yes.

Those are the base specs of the platform. You simply need to get a board that overclocks and set XMP profile.

Look at 6700k/7700k page... you'll see it says 2133/2400 on them too. ;)

thank you!

Only real difference between the two is the extra clock speed as stated, but also the "upgraded" iGPU on the 7100.

CPU is more or less the same. But iGPU, HD 600, has some improvements that make it a good media GPU, like hardware support for 10-bit HEVC as well as HDMI 2.0.

I do believe there were some O/S software gimps imposed on skylake but not kabylake
vaguely remember UHD Blueray being mentioned

some differences...

  • 6100 supports Ecc memory, 7100 not,
  • better gpu or newer one on 7100,
  • DDR4 up to 2400mhz on 7100
  • 7100 support Intel® TSX-NI and also Intel® Optane™ Memory Supported
