Is the i5 11400F worth it with Hyper 212 class coolers ? Should I upgrade?

Hi,
I would like to upgrade from my i5 4590 processor to i5 11400F processor. But looking at our Wizzard's review of it the 65w locked in motherboard i5 11400F looks really underwhelming even when compared to older i5 10400F. After unlocking though the i5 11400F becomes a really different CPU and comes even close to or surpasses AMD 5600! Wizzard has really recommended unlocking power and in his review in the "Temperatures" page has said, "The beauty of power limit adjustments is that you can freely choose any power limit, so just pick a value like 95 W, which is still a huge improvement over the 65 W default."
I would like to know what power limit our Wizzard is using (125W?)? Would my 2013 Hyper 212 Evo (Wizzard used NH-U14S) be able to get through with the heat? If not would the 95W power limit be within my coolers limits? If 95W is within my coolers limits how much performance would I gain with 95W power limit with respect to 65W power limit?
Thank you.

The 12400/12400F is right around the corner, you should get it instead.

You are forgetting something, the 12th gen requires a new motherboard too.

It's only 10th and 11th gen that fits on the same board and chipset.

OP has an i5 4590, so he needs new mobo anyways.

12400F + B660 motherboard are already here, they are awesome bang for buck
12400 review

To OP: EVO212 is fine for gaming workload on the i5 12400, heck even the new Intel stock cooler is okayish.

Yes Hyper 212 will be better than the Intel stock cooler. It will also be cooler and quiet.

12400F may not available in his country or price of it may over his/her budget, that is why 11400F.

Updating from anything to Rocket Lake has never made any sense. Please consider 12400F or something similar.

And the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler can easily cool this CPU.
i5 12400F would be grossly overpriced (at least where I live) when it arrives and I don't want to wait, even the i5 11400F was overpriced in my place, only now it has come down in price. Also my cooler would not fit on the i5 12400 anyways...
Would the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo be able to cool the i5 11400F when unlocked to 95W power limit?

I don't want to wait, have been miserable for quite a long time now. In my area 12400/b660 would be out of my budget for a good portion of 2022.

Yes you are correct. According to you will the Hyper 212 be enough for the i5 11400F if it was unlocked (not fully) but to 95W? Wizzard used an NH-U14S and got 72C gear 1 max power limit, he also says 95W is huge improvement too vs. the locked 65W power limit.

The best price I found online in India on the 11400F. (RS12800)

A cheap cooler like this should work just fine too.

That's a good price for the cpu, never bought from them though. Isn't the deepcool gammax in the same league as CM Hyper 212?

I would just like to know if my cooler would hold on if I set my power limit to 95W like Wizzard suggested.

I have also not bought from them before, I have bought from Primeabgb its (RS13499)

Yes, I would say same league but cheaper, Deepcool make decent coolers, there are several excellent reviews on Youtube.
What? I already have the Hyper 212 cooler why would I buy Deepcool again and yes I know about primeabgb price for the i5 11400F.

lol, then no worries if its compatible with the LGA1200 socket then you should be fine.

Hyper 212 is fine upto 105-125W power draw. So 95W will work fine. Here is a video of 11400 running at 125W fine with Hyper 212 BE.

Though make sure thermal paste is applied properly and cooler mounted properly. And compatible with LGA1200 Socket.

The i5 11400F was locked at 65W in the video, doesn't matter right as i5 11600K should heat up more than the 11400?

EDIT: I watched the video again something is wrong i5 11600K and i5 11400F are drawing way too less power. In tpu review 11400 alone goes past 200W!

I'm going to try to give a comprehensive answer. The 11400 is a good CPU especially considering the price.

If the hyper 212 can handle those 95W you have to consider some things, your case first, i looked and it doesn't seem airflow focused, that front is too closed, so if you abuse the 95W in that case with time the heat can acumulate affecting not only the CPU but the motherboard and GPU.
I have the hyper 212 but a airflow case and i also replaced the stock fan (stock fan is shit if you want to go for those wattages) and i can assure you i could handle it, in your situation those are things you have to consider.

With a better fan and a better case sure.

Yes my upgrade would also contain a new cabinet, didn't mention it here because the i5 11400F is the only part I am really confused about. Thanks.

Buy an airflow case and replace the stock hyper 212 fan and it will do just fine.

The i5 in the video was running at 125W. And yes 11600K will heat up more as it is unlocked and has 215W power limit.

Oh sorry. Thank you. Do you have any idea how much performance I would lose running @ 95W vs. TPU review fully unlocked? Without unlocking 11400 looks really bad.

@8tyone Which mobo are you looking to use with this build?

Sadly dont have good estimation of performance loss at 95W, but according to TPU's review difference between base and max power is 18% on CPU tests and 5% on 1080p gaming.

Yeah, my bad lol. I didn't read what the OP said entirely.

Sorry, I didn't read the full information. It should be good enough since the Hyper 212 is a very solid air-cooler for the price.

Please don't apologize :)
Even when unlocked to 95W?

Deadend platform

Deadend platform

vs cost early adoptors (cost as in real money and headaches) and in price/performance this "deadend platforms" will crush the new shinning thing. If you have the money sure, if not they are never the sensible choice.
