Is this normal or gpu is toast?

So, i have opened gpu-z on a pc without any drivers just to check if temps are ok after repasting the card, but when i've installed the amd driver it went to a black screen then this checkerboard pattern all over the screen.
It did solve the issue with a restart, but i'm wondering if gpu-z had something to do since it happened twice with the same amd gpu. Is this a normal behavior on gpu-z or is my gpu the problem?

Gpu in question: xfx rx 560 single fan 4gb
Cpu: i7-4770
Ram: 16 gb ram ddr3
Psu: cooler master elite v3 500w

rx560 is cool card... but, who knows... i doubt gpuz had caused this...

Go back over your work and check that you have mounted the cooler back on the card correctly. Check your cables are all seated correctly. If that doesnt work then your card is most likely toast.

Make sure the fan is spinning up too. Sometimes a cable might slow the fan to a stop as well if your cable management is an issue.

Looks like your GPU is a goner.

Probably GPU RAM chips malfunctioning.

RIPperino.

I thought that could be a gpu-z bug because reinstalling the driver from a cold boot works just fine, but when i've opened gpu-z prior to install the amd driver it glitched out the screen quite hard like in the screenshot

I've checked the fan in heaven benchmark and seems to be working fine, although the fan curve seems a bit off. 77° celsius and the fan goes like 19-20% fan speed.

uninstall AMD drivers then use DDU in safemode and try installing the drivers again and see what happens.

If you've checked that you've reassembled the card correctly then you may have just shorted the fan controller on the card or something. If thats the case then you can just ghetto mod a 120mm fan on to it and run it from a 3pin header on the MB or molex to 3 pin adapter.

Okay, i think i've found the issue. it was the 6-pin power connector from the psu. i've connected an molex to 6-pin connector adapter that came with the graphics card and seems to install the driver without any failure, even with gpu-z open in the background.
at least the gpu seems to be completely fine but i can't trust with the psu anymore.

"It's dead, Jim!"

Where did you get the card? Or are you original 1st purchaser

This is good. Still, a good idea to test your PC's RAM with Memtest86 (from a USB flash drive).

And do some basic testing of GPU too, say with 3DMark (various tests), Unigine Valley, Unigine Superposition, Monster Hunter Online Benchmark:

If the tests show unusual slowdowns at different times, and/or show any visual artifacts, most likely GPU has issues still.
If not, you are fine! :)

Any luck with the 3D benchmarks yet??
