Is this where CPUs is the primary focus ?

New user, coming from Anandtech.com. Is there a forum where CPUs is the primary focus ? or is this forum it ?
Different sections are focal points, but for cpus, yeah this is the primary unless if you go to overclocking and cooling

So do you need help with something?

Well, first, I guess I should give you a little history. For 17 years I was the CPU and Overclocking Moderator at Anandtech.com forums. The forum MIGHT be dissolved in the next 90 days, so I am looking for a possible new home. Below is the signature I use at that forum, and I have about 10 more systems that I do not regularly use including a Dual 7763 Milan system and a Dual 7V12 system. So I provide more help than I need help. I also have a (possible) Turin system but I have no BIOS for it until it is released and may have to return the CPU, but the below are in daily use:

All Doing Rosetta or WCG + F@H === 7 x 7950x + 3 4090 \ 7950x3d + 4090 \ 9950x w/4090
4 x Genoa 9554 w/linux 128 threads / 192 gig ram each
EPYC Genoa 9654 96c/192t, 192 gig DDR5-4800 ECC w/ 4080
Addition video cards 4080, 3 x 3080TI , 2 x 3090TI, 2 x 3070TI and 4 Titan V's

That's as long as I've been a member here, before this forum I was on Hardware Analysis along with @CrAsHnBuRnXp.

I don't have as much hardware but building a rig and troubleshooting or tuning will never leave me. Reading manuals and books are still King

You can bookmark this forum or https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/ (the main forum page)
If you want infos about CPUs, general hardware would be the main point but it will depends on what you ask.
The news are good here, the CPU reviews are strong, everything can be seen from the forum, the staff is strong and listening.
Welcome.

I used to be the moderator over there. That was many a moon ago.

@FordGT90Concept @Super XP that I know are from there as well. :p

It seems W1z will need to be modern and make Anad refugee camp lol.

CPU forum? We have it scattered around. For example for AMD people ZEN CPU section is others CLUB section, go figure.

Hi Mark, sorry to hear about AT, haven't posted there in about 7 years but do remember you even though I tend to forget many things. Seems a lot of forums are shadows of their former selves these days. Maybe too Boomerish for the younger gens?

Doubt it has to do with a persons age as to why the page is going away. Jonnygurus page dropped out after he was employed by corsair...

I don't know of any forum anywhere that focuses primarily on CPUs. In fact I don't know of any site/forum anywhere that focuses on a single computer component. Even the forums hosted by Intel and AMD are not that specific.

The forum MIGHT be dissolved in the next 90 days,
What do you mean by "MIGHT"? Ryan Smith seems to make it clear here, that AnandTech has already ceased reporting on and reviewing new products. However, he noted (my bold underline added),

And while the AnandTech staff is riding off into the sunset, I am happy to report that the site itself won’t be going anywhere for a while. Our publisher, Future PLC, will be keeping the AnandTech website and its many articles live indefinitely. So that all of the content we’ve created over the years remains accessible and citable. Even without new articles to add to the collection, I expect that many of the things we’ve written over the past couple of decades will remain relevant for years to come – and remain accessible just as long.

The AnandTech Forums will also continue to be operated by Future’s community team and our dedicated troop of moderators.
So do know something he doesn't or is not telling us?

Well it's not in Ryan's hands for one, the decisions would be taken higher up at Future LLC(?) but speaking of AT the most activity these days is OT & politics threads. Would've been nice if AT wasn't treated like a stepchild wrt Toms but not everything we want comes to pass :ohwell:

Yeah. I noticed that was the only site readers of the shutting-down article were referred to. I understand both Future PLC sites, but still.

Welcome to TPU Mark! Really sad to see Anandtech going away. I'm sure it's a heartbreaker for you after all these years.

Fold on!

Chips and Cheese on Discord.
Unless you prefer older things ? (because you are exhausted from all newest things)
At which point I can recommend The Retro Web Discord server.

OCN does have sub-forums for AMD and Intel CPUs

Yeah, sub forums. So does TPU and just about every other tech forum. Not the same thing as main focus on CPUs.

So, to be clear I have heard RUMORS that the forum has 90 days. Other rumors say they will stay indefinity. I am just trying to find a place that is like MY CPU forum where its all about different CPUs, AMD, Intel, Apple, etc...Including server CPUs. We have a general hardware forum also that covers everything but. We have a video form for video cards. You could look yourself, but I like the way its divided up. So, nothing is definite yet. Also, we have a distributed computing forum which the other area I am dedicated to. I lost my bladder, prostate, my hearing and balance to cancer. So I spend a lot of effort to support cancer research.

Welcome to TPU! :)

I see you had "Rosetta, F@H and WCG" in your system details. If you're interested, TPU has a folding@home and WCG crunching team, as well as teams on Einstein@Home and Milkyway@Home when using BOINC. You can find out about them here.

Processors covered by the overclocking and cooling forum, which is now redundant. overclocking isn't what it used to be.

overclock.net has specific CPU sub forums. They are extremists in general though, but then again that's overclocking!

Overclocking today is essentially dead, at least its worthless most of the time. It use to be great 10-15 years ago, but not today.
I agree - though I go back further to 20 - 25 years when you actually had to cut traces (with no schematic to know which one) and run jumpers, instantly voiding warranties, and potentially bricking boards and toasting CPUs.

Today, you click a box or slide a slider in a menu. What's the challenge? Oh well.

tbh I wouldn't expect the forums to stay up for too long. Future shut down the forums on PCGamer pretty quick. I don't know if it was the cost of maintaining the server or the hassle of managing the forums but I think they have liability risks if they don't assign people to watch the forums.
