Issues with drivers 566.36 and NVCleanstall v1.17

Latest nvidia driver update seems like have introduced some difference in its files. Now with driver 566.36 and latest NVCleanstall it gives an error the moment you press "Install" to start Nvidia installation prompt (see screenshot below). It basically says "unable to find the specified path".
Just to be sure I tested with previous 566.14 and it works fine.

Same here.

Same experience, also tried v1.16.0 and same negative.

Confirmed. They are bundling NvApp now instead of GFE.

I've gotta update NVCleanstall for this

The "NVApp" feature is nothing more than the NVIDIA app, which has already left the Beta phase and will be integrated into the driver installer instead of GeForce Experience.

Everything is fine here. Driver 566.36 installed successfully, but I compiled the self-extracting tool itself before installing the driver.

@AAF Optimus Any chance you could post your settings? I've tried unattended vs not and a few variations of the 2nd screen settings (ansel tweaks, etc) and am getting the same issue, even with the bundled self-extracting executable on v1.17.0

Just mark 4 last components - everything works after that.

You can get round the issue by selecting "NvApp" and "NvApp.MessageBus" on the "Select components to install" step of the process. I first click "Recommended" and then add those 2 components from the unknown Components section. Then the error doesn't occur.

As part of the driver install process you can choose just to install the driver or driver and App if you want. Smurfingly I just choose driver only.

I did exactly this.

Cheers, that was the trick, thanks guys.

Note to anyone else who didn't read the above: Unattended won't work if you don't want NvApp, but it's only a couple clicks so no biggie for a single machine.

Thanks for the tips, I've been having the same issue. One question only, shouldn't we select all 4 new components instead of only NvApp and NvApp.MessageBus? One of the others appears to be the Control Panel, and I'd like to have it too.

If you want the NvApp, then yes, select all four (not sure if you might need more, from the GeForce Experience section)

Selecting all four components at the bottom then manually going through the install doesn't let me unselect the NVIDIA app, only physx and the HD driver. What did I do wrong?

For the minimalists like me:

Just select Driver in the main category and NvApp in the unknown category - I ignored the other 3 unkwown and still a perfect minimalist installation. It still installed NVCP which is all I need in my gaming life.

If anyone can shed light what NVDLISR , MessageBus and NVCpl is - that will be much appreciated

So, if we only want the driver, it does not work?

It works. You just have to make sure to check ✅NvApp in the Unknown Category. When the actual installation starts you will be given a choice whether to install Driver+NVIDIA App or just the Driver. Click on just the driver.

Yup, this will be my approach in next version. Thanks for pointing this out

Latest NVCleanstall doesn't connect to some sort of server or bring any info up at all. Previous one works to load existing drivers.
