Just a rant about AMD and their so-called "foolproofness"

I've accepted that RDNA3 just doesn't UV that well. You get a -10% energy slider and that's all she wrote. You look at clocks the wrong way, she might crash. Especially memory. 2600mhz, I thought was stable for quite a while, but nope. Perhaps with more voltage... But that's not what you want apparently and tbf neither do I. And if you want an OC and a UV... that's a fine line in 2023.

So your mod crashes the graphics driver. Remove the culprit != "I'll pick what I dislike the most", it means go by process of elimination. What if CyberEngineTweaks isn't in play, for example.

the more and more i hear about the rest of yours guys cards and issues the more and more i wonder if i won the lottery with my 7900 xt. vram at 2770, -60 uv, power slider at +15%, custom fan speed at 61% regardless of temp. she sings and runs cold baby, fully stable and never had a crash with these settings, threw every test in the book at it.

i only ran into issues when i used the second "oc bios" it would get crazy good scores in 3dmark but crash in everything else outside of stock settings. but doing a medium oc on core and strong oc on vram with the quiet bios has given me great temps/scores/stability. so i am pretty happy overall considering the price i paid plus getting starfield premium for free, which I am enjoying.

You're overclocking, we're talking about reducing power. Power slider at +15% yes it will give different results. It'll also pull 15% more than 315W at full load.

The SMT patch is in CET

Game runs flawlessly for me with that on. Maybe you have a setting enabled that messes with the game. Not sure how all of this will work in 2.0.

Here are usages.

System specs are up to date.

The crash happens when you change the resolution and has Vsync enabled.

Running windowed, changing resolution doesn't crash. I'm assuming fullscreen?

Windowed fullscreen - vsync on, change resolution results in crash. For me at least, might be other settings involved.

my ram is still fully stable with power level at default 0. sometimes i run it with a -25 undervolt, and vram at 2770 with no power slider.

it does run colder and does like 308 watts in starfield. still seems like it boosts pretty good though, so maybe i should just leave it like that 24/7. i just have a bad habit of trying to maximize performance :D

what game are we talking about here, im lost

The way it works with VRAM is that if you clock VRAM too high you get reduced core clocks at the same power budget. So +15% opens up the path for higher GPU clocks combined with VRAM OC. Core clocks will drop if you reduce that power slider to 0 and yet further if you reduce it below that.

Goes from windowed borderless with vsync on to windowed on resolution switch, no crash.

Cyberpunk 2077 plus this mod.

im waiting to play cyberpunk 2077 next year, its one of the fsr3 frame gen games amd announced for early next year. i haven't played it once yet, so going to wait for fsr3 frame gen and just binge play it and the expansion, hopefully its good.

No it doesn't revert instead it could just blow the F up. This whole thread is heaps and mounds of silliness.
Tell me you know nothing about cars without saying you know nothing about cars. Said stall, not pre-detonation.

And what if you disable FreeSync?

It doesn't affect Intel CPUs. Tested it already.

going to wait for fsr3 frame gen
You literally don't need it if you won't enable RT. 7900 XT is capable of a million raw raster FPS at any resolution below 4K.

Ray tracing in this game is by no mean a necessity.

Well the car's tune doesn't revert to factory when it's restarted after it stalls. That is the issue, if I was a auto-tech, and the ecu reverted everytime it threw a code I'd lose my dam mind. It would make troubleshooting damn near impossible.
Oh? Is that why every time I start my ID3 I have to turn that fking lane assist suicide option off?

i MISS the days when people doing this stuff just didn't blue screen and have to hard reset or gasp have to completely power down and unplug for 15 minutes and knock on wood, hope and pray their 'putter survived and was alright, way back then i didn't have to listen to see threads like this drivel rant about how the world doesn't conform to their thinking about how easy things are now and how ignorant they are of not using developer tools and software and a supply of hardware for when they DID fry something hardware wise while DEBUGGING UNSTABLE CODE. you should consult with some ex ̶E̶V̶G̶A̶ BFG engineers how best to go about this, not that amd is their forte', just that some edJUDGEmeh'cation is needed about what tools developers use.
^5 to AMD for protecting Froobs from burning down the world.
the altclocking profile savings on hardware from the vendors has been a nice addition over the decades and also extremely simple for even the most novice of users to operate.
personally it's a nice change from having to do this every P.O.S.T.

You have FreeSync enabled, innit?
How does it run without it? Still doesn't bug out when changing the resolution?

I have freesync on in AMD options but fixed refresh in game. FSR on quality reset.

And I got game files corruption. Freak it, will re-download when 2.0 comes out.

The game itself doesn't state something is wrong with it, it just makes my PC freeze forever at certain locations of the map regardless of settings and overclocking. I also tested with NO mods enabled, still same crash at the same motorway turnpike near Pacifica.

Verify files and see if you can get me a screenshot of the map in Pacifica. I'll test there.

You won't run into any crash because I really have half my files corrupted (and I don't feel like downloading them again). The problem is on my side and it has nothing to do with mods or hardware. I will play different games and then switch directly to 2.0.

Yep, that is right up there with auto‐stop start having to be disabled every start up.

144. 72 is smooth enough for me in 2077.
Ok that could be the issue. You should set the Max FPS in CP2077 to 144. You are confusing the card and the monitor by having different settings. Some Games are worse than others in this regard. BTW with Freesync on Vsync can cause issues as well.
