Good keyboard :respect:

I personally prefer a compact keyboard for its portability and cleaner desk space. That's why I switched to a mechanical keyboard.
Those two sentences don't go together.

Just because a keyboard is mechanical, that does not automatically mean it will be compact, portable, or make for a cleaner desk space. I don't even know what "cleaner desk space" means (other than not full of dirt and grime). My keyboard is 18" wide. Not compact but not HUGE either. And IMO, my desktop (keyboard tray, actually) is still "clean", as in has a clean "tidy" appearance).

There are some huge mechanical keyboards too that definitely are NOT compact or considered portable. In fact, most mechanical keyboards are heavy (compared to non-mechanical) - and many users consider that an asset.

I am just saying your reasons for preferring a compact keyboard are totally valid and make perfect sense - other than suggesting that is why you switched to a mechanical. There are plenty of membrane based keyboards that are very compact, portable (because, in part, they tend to weigh less), and look nice too.

I went from a 100% PS/2 office keyboard from the OLD era and needed to pick something more modern.
Went with a Royal Kludge RK84 which is a 75% board. There are only 2 times in the day where I need the numpad but other than that it's fine.
For anything where I need manual overrides I switch to my 15% Romoral. Both of these are USB, LED/RGB and FULLY programmable. Love it.

My laptop has 101 keys, so I suppose it's a 96%. I make use of most of them. Aesthetically, I love how even bigger keyboards like the Hyper 7 look. I have no reason to buy a standalone keyboard until I have a desktop though.

I use my numpad for calculations with numlock on, and for "Mouse Keys" with numlock off - if my touchpad dies, I'm all set! (I should try playing osu! with only the keyboard lol.) It's actually extremely useful to be able to move the cursor one pixel at a time - it's helped me with all my CSS and theming.

The only keys I cannot recall ever using are F9 and F11, and I very rarely use F4, F7, Caps Lock, and left Alt. (My right Alt is AltGr.)

120% but not using the F13-F24 buttons.
IBM M122 modernized controller to usbc and boltmod.
