whats the best way to use a laptop to ensure the battery lasts as long as possible?
Keep it off?
When you go to battery power, your display should dim a bit. That'll help some. Do things as you need them and not at the same time. Don't have stuff running for no reason. Turn off wireless adapter when you don't want the Internet. Probably all kinds of things.
goto control panel, then power options, and set it to max battery.
ok let me be more thoro ... as in life as in the amount of years you have the battery ...
Oh. Keep it in the laptop instead of tossing it around in the street?
just charge it to the max, run on battery till warning lights, and plug it back in. The idea is to use its entire charge, from 100% to critical, and back up. This removes that dreaded memory issues.
ok ..... so dont let it sit on the charger then?
I would say thats the fastest way to make a memory issue, and stuck completly at 100%.
is there a way to revamp a battery , i have seen in bios a opion to to wipe the battery?
Depends. I actually just optimized my wife's laptop's battery. There was a utility that came with her HP laptop to do so. Pretty cool I guess.
