I got my crosshair viii and Ryzen 9 3950x put it in my system hooked it all up, turned on the power, and nothing happened. I then spent two hours trying to find the problem thaught the motherboard was dead and was going to pull it out and when I grabbed the 24 pin power connector I discovered it was only halfway in pushed it in and all turned on all good

I would say you are lucky, in the worst case it could have end up with damaging motherboard. Anyway, nice it all turned out well for you.

Yeah... the 24 pin... the one where you always wonder what will break first... man that plug needs some force. I always find myself holding board and plug and squeezing them together so as not to break stuff.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
I've built enough machines at work with stiff 24-pin sockets that I've had the modelshop knock up a rubber block on a stick that's the same thickness as most brass motherboard standoffs. I slide it behind the 24-pin socket so that I can push down real hard without fear of cracking the motherboard.

And yet that should never happen because the motherboard designers "should" locate that connector so any pressure needed is properly met by case standoffs under the board. But sadly, some motherboards are not so nicely designed. :(

Some times the problem is really with the new cable connector on a new PSU, and not the motherboard connector. I got into the habit of putting the motherboard on a breadboard, and connecting and disconnecting the connectors a couple times to get them loosened up a bit so they slide on easier before mounting the board inside the case.

I like your rubber block idea but I am not picturing in my mind the angles needed so I could slide it under a board that's already mounted - except maybe with a extra roomy "full" tower case.

Yeah done that before, if fact ii should have some black dense foam i used to use still ( some were ). It's al so sticky on one side too.

This board like my other ASRock board is just a little shorter than a full size ATX board sadly, comes a little short for the 7\8\9th standoffs.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
I like your rubber block idea but I am not picturing in my mind the angles needed so I could slide it under a board that's already mounted - except maybe with a extra roomy "full" tower case.
I've been quarantined for a month so can't hop to the office to take a photo but it's L-shaped. Here's a dumb mspaint drawing I knocked up in under 30 seconds.

Wooden stick, 6mm of rubber gasket material, and the thing is held together with two pins and I presume some glue.

The model maker left the room and returned from the workshop with it in the time it took me to update the CNC laser-cutter drivers on his machine, so ~3 mins and that includes at least a minute of walking. Hopefully that gives you an idea of how carefully built and how precise the machining is on this wonderful contraption.

Yeah, that is pretty much what I envisioned and I can see that working if the 20/24 pin connector is near the edge of the board. But I've run into a few where the main power connector was not. Frankly, I been more nervous trying to insert RAM because not only do you sometimes have to use considerable force, you also have to make sure you press straight down.
Hopefully that gives you an idea of how carefully built and how precise the machining is on this wonderful contraption.
LOL Oh, yeah. Clearly precision engineering, design and manufacturing was involved. ;)
