The only thing I'd consider for a replacement is a 4090 - the 4080 wouldn't be a significant step up outside of Cyberpunk, and even in that it wouldn't be able to do what I want. No point spending more money to be differently disappointed. Plus we're not talking about a small amount of money for the upgrade, still $400+. That's too much for what I'd be getting.
I should have known better from the start - there's just too big a gap between the 4090 and everything else right now.
I agree, although had you went with the 4080 from the start you might have been less disappointed than you are now but as it stands it is a 400+ side grade that is better in RT and has DLSS probably not enough to tip the scale and feel good about the upgrade/sidegrade.
I almost went 4080 as well due to the 4090 constantly being out of stock at the time after using it at 4k I am glad I didn't although different circumstance the 4080 would have cost me 0 out of pocket the 4090 only costed 300 usd for reasons...
