your speeds are cL 11 which are slower than the rated 9

XMP stands for Xtreme Memory Profile it is not AMD or intel specific this profile is what the sticks are programmed to run at. If XMP is not selected/enabled in bios the sticks will run at JDEC which are the speeds the memory has pre programed to run in "compatibility" mode if you will.

XMP is Intel-only. It's Intel-owned "tech".

See here:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/extreme-memory-profile-xmp.html

AMD has AMP. Very few modules contain both.

AMD AMP here:

http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/amd-overdrive/Pages/amp.aspx

Modules tested under XMP are NOT guaranteed to run on AMD platforms by simply enabling XMP. Some modules (many, in fact), will run with the PRIMARY timings of an Intel XMP profile on an AMD system, but not all.

I wonder if downloading AC4 while P95 on would be okay overnight.
For now I'd do one thing at a time.

edit: maybe try for more speed?

Well I thank everyone that helped out. I'm having no issues whatsoever. I'll post here if anything comes up.

I'm very pleased with how my CPU is so cool on stock cooling. (caps at 42c on BF3 multiplayer)(12c on idle)

Idle seems impossible unless its cold as hell in Oregon. 53 degrees room temp?

Still, how do you get below 20*C..? Maybe the temp sensor doesn't measure idle well.

Meh not all systems running the primary timings I can only imagine that being an incredibly low percentage lower than iv even ever seen. Probably close to the same chance that the memory just doesnt work because we all know motherboards have "compatibility" lists.

Maybe 75% of sticks rated for whatever speeds over 1866 with XMP don't work on AMD. It's getting better, but only if you are using an APU, and the board itself supports XMP. Very few AMD boards support XMP other than a couple from ASRock and ASUS. 1600 MHz and lower, you get maybe 80% compatibility with ram and AMD systems. Just looking at any memory maker's forum and this is pretty obvious.

XMP profiles contain secondary timing profiling that AMD systems don't support. Like...the options aren't even there. It sucks, but it is what it is. AMD's memory controllers just aren't as capable as Intel's are yet on AM3+ CPUs.

I have the OP's board. It doesn't like all memory. Nor do the CPUs. it just is what it is.

I have all sort of 2400 MHz + kits here that won't work. :p

MFR-based kits work really well though. ;)

I was referring to the primary timing sets not the secondaries. which have far higher percentages for normal users not over clocking from what iv seen on forums.

You must forget I do the memory, motherboard, and occasional CPU reviews here. XMP is for Intel, AMD has AMP. Not much point in arguing over it.

you said:

Which I was just pointing out as being incorrect. No big deal. You're right, many times things will work OK together...but only when talking about 1866 Mhz and less. 2133 Mhz and higher with AM3/AM3+ CPUs isn't that great.

Which is fine I was wrong thank you for the correction. But I can challenge your opinion because this is a public forum and your review status means nothing to me. Alot of statistics are made up right? and you said.

Maybe 75% of sticks rated for whatever speeds over 1866 with XMP don't work on AMD.

I would like to see the thread or other data that you are refering too that states that almost/or 1 in 4 people cannot run ram at primary XMP timings on AMd systems please.

I would also like to see the data that indicates this.

you get maybe 80% compatibility with ram and AMD systems. Just looking at any memory maker's forum and this is pretty obvious.

Oh and if you could also provide the data indicating that these percentages are better on APU as opposed to non APU chips that support XMP that would be nice as well.

It's getting better, but only if you are using an APU, and the board itself supports XMP.

and I can only assume that given the fact that you

You must forget I do the memory, motherboard, and occasional CPU reviews here. XMP is for Intel, AMD has AMP. Not much point in arguing over it.

that you not only have acess to all of this information but also that you must get them from credible sources like manufacturers and not a personal compolation of cherry picked posts from other public tech forums on the web.

correct?

20c air blowing against metal, cooling it more? Airflow cooling? I don't know.

Like I said, check any memory company forum. G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston, etc. The defacto answer to problems with XMP-rated sticks on AMD systems is "Your sticks are rated for XMP, which is only for Intel systems". Not my answer...that's the "official" answer.

Oh and if you could also provide the data indicating that these percentages are better on APU as opposed to non APU chips that support XMP that would be nice as well.

Sure. AMD AM3+ CPUs support up to 1866 MHz. APUs support up to 2133. That's just AMD's specs.

Not only do I have access to such information, so does anyone else.

And you're right, me doing reviews in meaningless, other than to show that I have a fair bit of experience building an testing systems, and that I have this board in particular, because I reviewed it here on TPU.

And that was my point there. I reviewed this board, for TPU, before any other site. It has run in my son's system since then, and he like to game and OC a bit. He plays with my memory that I get for reviews, and he's had a lot of problems. At the same time, I've tried helping him, and we've tried other boards and chips, and AMD just has poopy memory controllers.

In the end, Intel systems even have a greater range of timing options available compared to AMD systems, and this is purely down to hardware support.

but all of this still is only you telling me to "go find it" and not actually proving to me or anyone else that what you just stated as fact is true. I'm sure you understand that anyone can just come along and play contending test results and for this reason wouldn't you agree that its imperative for reviewers to prove their claims and results? I mean having this ability in the end puts trust and clout behind a review instead of reading a document written by a man that "seems to know his stuff" right?

MEh, not my issue that I corrected your wrong info, and you want proof to correct you.o_O To you, yep, I say go find it. Pretty much anyone else other than maybe one or two people will just kind of accept that I corrected you to correct you and help us give the right info, and that's it.

ME knowing my stuff? I'm an idiot, dude. You should ALWAYS second guess me and check with other official sources. I'd be insulted if you didn't.

Well the load temperature seems realistic I think. Its impossible to have temperatures below ambient unless you are running a waterchiller, phase change, TEC, or LN2. Still you should be skeptical of temperature readings at load too. I have a bad sensor on my i7 so I just ignore that one, its on core #01, always runs 5-10*C below the others.

Once you get a aftermarket heatsink you probably won't have to worry about it if you go for a reasonable speed and voltage.

So I have bad thermals on all 6 cores? The voltage goes to 0.888 on idle.

Just don't worry about it, the sensor is probably calibrated more for the top range than the idle low range.

To whoever still watches this thread,

I've had no performance issues AT ALL in any game that I've played. (Besides Next Car Game which eats my GPU for breakfast)

Everything is snappier, I'm even running on WCG now. (Yay)

AC4 is 40-55fps. Used to be 30-40.

BF3 was 40-50, now it's 70+

Warframe barely pulled 30, now it runs at 50-120

Gmod lags because I make little armies and the engine is just old.

Payday 2 (FPS capped at 75 by me) Never EVER goes below 75fps.

This is just pure sex to me.
