Making a movie

Me and my friends have been looking into to making a movie and I want to know what software I'm going to need to pull it off. I'm looking for a good video camera, not over 500 dollars. I'm looking for a good editing system, not over 150 dollars. And also I'm looking for a program that can take the stuff I've filmed and convert it so I can edit it. I'm willing to go over these prices but not by much.

If you guys know of any it would really help me out if you could post them here. Thanks for the help.

What do you mean by editing system. Like a computer to do the editing on? Obviously you would want a digital video camera, much easier for you to edit. Editing normal film can be difficult and require some extra equipment.

Well I mean something like this for video editing software: http://www.deskshare.com/vem.aspx . Just a program for the computer. I would get a Digital Video Camera but I heard they can be very expensive, I heard there was a program that could convert it so you could put it on your computer. Convert tape, or something along those lines. If getting a Digital Video Camera would be best though, do you know of any that would be good?

Sure you could convert it, just make sure the PC has the proper inputs. Most PCs don't have any way to input analog video so you would have to get a video capture card. As far as video cameras go I just don't know enough to give you a decent answer.

I was just looking around at some websites. It looks like you can easily get a Digital video camera for around 500 dollars, and then you wouldn't have to get a capture card either. I don't know how they compare to analog video recorders, but I bet they are good. You may want to look into it.

For software, you could use Windows Movie maker which is free and should come with XP, or you could get a really advanced video editing software like the Sony Vegas 6.0. It's at their website and you can download a free trial. Great software, both of them. It's just that if you want all the features of Sony Vegas, you'll have to pay around $300.

Editing software: Canopus Edius
For true cinema-like imagery, get a wide angle. Nothing can replace that.

i use sony vegas 4 and its an awsome piece of software,
