Ah , EA's very well known ability to take a shit in a very odd way on a well known and loved franchise. Nothing new here , I just wonder for how long are they going to keep doing this. Oh well , maybe I'm just exaggerating after still being sour about them killing Dead Space , one of my favorite series of games.

Well, at least EA did manage to release a really decent game in the last 6 months, and it wasn't a DAI clone: Titanfall 2.

Dead Space, finished it in a heartbeat, after System Shock 2, one of my favorite games. Dead Space 2, took half a year to finish, but it was still really good experience. Dead Space 3, just re-united with some people

Horrific animations. Ugly characters. Voice acting it hit and (very) miss. Mediocre game-play. Cringe-worthy dialog writing.
And you travel 2.5 Million light years and only have two new races to interact with? SMH.

So far, so good I have to say. It plays quite well even if some of the animations are a bit weird. No major complaints, but I've only played for about 5h.

10h in and I've noticed a fair few animation glitches and there have been a couple of bugs where enemies haven't spawned, so it's impossible to continue the progress of the game. A quick restore to the last saved game solved this, but it's annoying nonetheless. The overall story so far is quite good though and the Nomad is much easier to drive than the Mako in the previous games. On the other hand, there's also just as much useless interaction with mostly pointless NPCs.

Former Bioware VFX artist sheds some light on Andromeda developement.

Bioware Edmonton and Montreal symbiosis is broken. Lots of conflicts and bro culture.

Lost over 13 leads (game design, art, audio, prog, senior core
leads, etc) in 5 years at Bioware Montreal on Mass Effect. Edmonton lost
only 3. It is clear that Edmonton has the bigger part of the stick when
it comes to purge Leads and Producers who are not aligned with their
leadership style.

Putting people on performance improvement program (PIP Program)
is the new tactics to get rid of people. Once again more than 10 people
in Montreal got slammed with this bureaucratic uppercut to let go people
that are not bending to Edmonton leadership styles in the last revision
cycle. This approach is used by the Montreal Leadership to purge the
mess from the lack of vision cause by upper management in the last 4
years (throwing people under the bus to protect bad core management).

Renaming crunch to Finaling mode. Which means company pays for
your lunch but you have only 30 minutes to eat and then getting back on
the keyboard. Was lasting for over 2 months and was a real catastrophy.
Retaliation and harassment is sadly a reality. If you talk and
ask questions you will be tag as a trouble maker and end up in a bad
position.

HR won't help you out. They will deny the current harassment from
Monreal management by ignoring and not documenting the facts. In other
words if you leave don't talk. Just let it go...

Many benifits got cut due to too much time extension to get the game done.

For me it depends on what you're looking for in the game. Character creation is incredibly important to some people, I get it, but for me, the gameplay and storyline are much more important. I played for about an hour last night, and while the facial expressions were laughable, the voice acting isn't half bad, and the gameplay was very enjoyable. I guess if you look at it from an overall standpoint, it might rank kinda low, but from a gameplay standpoint it's pretty good. And of course, full disclaimer; I completely understand this is all just my opinion. :)

This is the first ME game I have not bought at release. I'm kinda glad I decided to wait.

I preordered cause it was on sale at Amazon but quickly canceled because I saw the previews. I play Mass Effect for the characters and story. Sure, people rave about the combat but I don't want to play Gears of War. If I wanted to play Gears of War I would play Gears of War. By removing squad control, customization, ability combos and combat pausing they took away the some remnants of Mass Effect being a RPG and now straight up turned in to a shooter.

The character design is horrid. I can't even feel for the characters at all because they are so ugly. Why do they all have to look so ugly? If I don't care about the characters, I can't get in to a RPG.

The writing and dialog is bad. Writing is very important in a RPG, if you can't even get that correct why even pretend that this is a RPG? Just say this is a shooter and not bother giving it a story at all.

I basically play RPGs for the story, dialog and characters. Bioware basically failed all those points. This is what happens when you try to cater to everyone and now it caters to no one.

How is the voice acting good? The lines are delivered with no feelings and they don't have context. It's like they just had people read lines without giving them the background on what's happening at that moment in time. When people do voice overs for animations, they have the scene play out for them to watch so they know how to deliver the lines. They obviously didn't do this.

I didn't say it was good, I said the voice acting itself isn't half bad. It's certainly worse than the other ME games, but there are plenty of games that are worse than ME:A.

I play Mass Effect games for feel of an epic, grand scale movie, so a gripping story must be there; and for the sense of exploration and wonder.

Facial expressions is minor to me. Many of the other little issues above are minor. On a scale of giving me a new galaxy, with every experience new, and feeling as if I am part of a larger than my character life, Bioware succeeded for me. I'm having fun at about 8 hours in.

If you want cinematic experience, play Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. It was somewhat shorter game, but its cinematic factor tops everything I've ever played. It's literally like a sci-fi jailbreak action movie blockbuster in a playable form. And it still looks amazing with its realtime lighting and shadowing engine.
