After raising over $300,000 during a hugely successful crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo earlier this year, the team behind the Tango PC has taken to Kickstarter to raise additional funds to support retailing their PC you can fit in your pocket. Not only is the Tango PC ultraportable, it is a formidable office as well as entertainment machine with mid-core gaming performance on traditional Windows.

The Tango Kickstarter Campaign got fully funded just a day ago, and with only a day or so more to go, the consumers still can back their campaign in return of not just the Tango PC, but also a free additional PC whenever their worldwide sales reaches a 100k units milestone. What really stands out is that the Tango PC is slim and weighs below 7 ounces, fitting what amounts to a full range of desktop components in a package about the size of an iPhone 5s. The specifications include an AMD A6-5200 2 GHz quad-core processor, DDR3 RAM (from 2-8GB), SSD hard drive (from 32GB-1TB or higher), 3x USB 2.0 ports, 1x USB 3.0 port, 1x HDMI port, headphone jack and internal Wi-Fi.

As for the operating system, Windows 7/8 is certified to run on Tango, but any OS compatible with a laptop PC should work, such as Linux, Unix and Chromium OS. In other words, Tango could potentially be your next cell phone sized Steam Machine.

The slim and tiny docking stations priced just at $99 each ($89 on KickStarter) can replace expensive desktops, IPTV boxes and older gaming consoles, and thus can save money on hardware and software because users can just carry one PC for everything everywhere.

Be sure to check out the Live demo video and their Kickstarter Campaign which ends in a day or so at the time of writing.

Find a way to give that two NICs and that's my next PF Sense router!

It is also around the same power as my Asus k55n laptop. With an SSD instead of HDD. I'm impressed...especially for the price. Though my AMD ran hot and up to 1GHz over stock speed in turbo mode. How will this keep cool. Regardless..I'm interested. Think I need one!

:toast:

You forgot to mention the mandatory docking station that houses the cooling and everything else. It brings up the size to other tiny bare-bones like the Gigabyte Brix...
It's really nothing special and there are much better performing platforms in that size range.
The docking station only is 99$, true. But the PC part will be much more than 99$. That is the small thing that houses the CPU/memory/ssd that gets plugged in the docking station and can be swapped between multiple docking stations. The so called PC component does not work without a docking station.

So the whole gimmick is that you buy 1 weak and expensive pc and many cheaper docking stations and just swap the pc from one station to the next...

Mini PC is an interesting concept but it's not worth investing for the moment due to overheating issue. Wait for something like skylake that should use significantly less power thus reducing the thermal throttling issue faced in all mini pcs nowaday be it intel nuc, gigabyte brix, asus vivo etc etc etc.

Hey there ya go, cost effective heating and computing for antarctic research stations! Bout the only place they could probably run it without overheating. :D

what 's wrong with the latest phones. They have similar specs...

and software. try to run windows 8 on your smartphone.

A lot of people compare mobile to pc
Just like people compare a laptop to pc
I hate it!! people need to do some more research before they comment
+1 for you :D

Laptops generally are PC's..

So are macs. People don't understand what the term PC means anymore :(

THIS^

it irks me every time I hear that being misused. lol

I know and I hate when I catch myself doing it, but most people either think it means windows pc, or they know it actually means personal computer but that in general use it normally is referring to a windows pc. Either way it's not like it's confusing, and the point I was making i think is clear.

Not a bad idea. But for $400+ You could get an AMD APU case etc. Yes it would be a bit bigger.
The docking station idea sucks ....

It would be good if you could use the device without the docking station.

just looks like a smartphone without a screen to me. I fail to see what's special about it if you need that bigger box with it.

I can see this being usefulll for businesses assuming therre was a docking station on every desk, saving desk space and able to take eveything with you easily when moving between offices.

Cheaper for businesses to have cheap 80-120 dollar thin clients at the actual offices and have them log on to a vmware or rdp into a remote server they can access from anywhere and any platform. I don't see this taking off as much.

Hell i can do that free with meraki systems manager from any pc that has a simple tiny agent on it.. LOL

Comparing PC hardware to mobile hardware are we ?
No. You got it all wrong! :)) I meant for a PC that small, probably you are going to use it for trivial tasks like surfing web, listening to music, watching movies, FB, Utube, etc, etc.
Nothing that a smartphone cannot do nowadays. Don't tell me you are going to play AAA games on it!! :))))
And besides, you need to attach 1 million peripherals to it, like monitor, keyboard, mouse, camera, speakers, etc, etc.

well if they call it a phone without a screen (which is what it is), people wont buy it, lol...

I read most comments say about "OVERHEATING" issue, but i dont see any line about it? did you guys just make it up? or something like fanboys/girls again?

Do I get it right that you have to use 2 docking stations to get the "right functionality" ?
So its basically about your local data and your OS state/settings.
Well ... don't we have the same functionality on life linux distros on USB for years ?

tango is removing my posts to help people get there refund they want, just email the support or social@tango.com with your paypal email and that you are wanting a refund on your contribution (i gave all info on what I got). I’m currently waiting till Friday or before because they only process there bills 1 day a week. it is horrible that they are not allowing others to know this info that WANT a refund… sounds even more shady

If anyone is thinking of preordering this pc don't do it. They are a huge scam. They raised money on Indiegogo then they went to kickstarter and raised money again. They have never put out a project and if you post stuff they don't like on the FB page they will remove your posts and ban you from posting any more. They wont even reply to emails let alone give you a refund. I am out over $400 because of these thieves.
