I suspected my ram of being iffy,so i ran memtest86.The problem is that i ran the test for 1 pass and it passed ok(did all tests),but i noticed the lights on my tracer ram were only ever going banannas on one stick,as if only one stick is doing anything. Why is this? i thought mem test test all of the available ram.

The other thing is,it was the stick in the slot furthest from the cpu socket that was going nuts, not the one closest to it.Do i have to swith the sticks around to test both of them?

Thanx guys n christine:p

Test one stick at a time, and try it in more than one slot, could either be a problem with the slot or the stick.

So are both sticks supposed to be "busy"? should the lights on both be going nuts?

Thanx bud.

I think so, I haven't ever really run memtest with more than 1 stick in at a time. If you run both sticks at the same time, you will get the same error you would get with a single stick, only you wouldn't know which it is. My guess is just the one is going crazy because the other is either having problems or in a bad slot.

Did you run a bootable cd or memtest for windows? I use memtest for windows. If using memtest for windows with your 2 gig of ram you need to run 2 instances. 1 at 800 mb the other at "all remaining ram". Then both tracers should go nuts. lol
