What is the benefit of moving to sandy bridge?

    i7 2500k versus i7 950?

I have been a little out of the loop thanks to engineering school. :(

    Being very brief of course.

I too also have a microcenter near me, in cambridge, MA.
I don't go too often, but I'd be willing to help a TPU member out.

    PM me anytime!

The i5 2500K + Asus Pro combo is $340. After tax and shipping it would come close to $400 so you may not be saving a lot from buying online.

I work 15 minutes from the one in Houston.
pm me if you want this, I can run over there during lunch, ship Monday and it be at your house by Wednesday (depending where you are )

Tax is 8.025. Willing to ship and then get the extra $ for shipping since it's hard to guess on that.

    pm me if interested

If enough people want stuff from Microcenter, it takes me $40 in gas to get there, so if 4 people wanted at least a CPU from them it could easily happen.

it would take me a lot less that $40 in gas, but there is mass sales tax, 6.25%

I live about 5 miles from the microcenter in Philly. They definitely have occasional killer deals but Fry's is still better IMO. I wish there was a Fry's nearby...

I asked a good friend of mine in Philly (St. Davids) to grab me a 2500K from MC, and I got it yesterday. With tax and shipping it was $203 to get it to me. Even with tax and shipping, I still saved $30-$40.

those are pretty good deals. there's a microcenter in the Duluth, GA area but atm i can't even afford the gas to drive there lol. There's also a Fry's down the road from them. I usually go to TigerDirect tho, they're about 30miles closer to me, if i don't order from newegg, i wish they'd build a store in GA lol. Unfortunately there's a sales tax of %7, so as far as saving on shipping, you'd spend it in gas and taxes. But if you have to have it now...

Don't get the bundle offers - it's still cheaper to buy the cpu separately and then get the mobo from Amazon or Newegg...

The price for the cpu is nice but for some reason at least with the Gigabyte board the bundle has it lasted at $189.99 but you can buy it seperatly from MC for $129.99:wtf: which is what I did.

That's why I love Houston, 3 Fry's and 1 MicroCenter all within the city limits. I'm within 10 miles from Fry's while at home and I pass by MC on the way home from work so the best of both worlds.

I would have to drive to Virginia to go to the nearest MicroCenter. I mean seriously, they could at least have one in the state capital or in Charlotte. :shadedshu
