mobo or cpu??? problem

OK i got a abit ip-35 pro Motherboard, Ok so here is the deal
I got a e4300 oc/ed to 3.2 @ 7X458. So I was looking @ the pin mods e4300 to unlock the Multiplier to 9 x . I did do the http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/228129-28-e4300 . but in bios and in windows it hows only 7.

It doesn't unlock a Multiplier, I am pretty sure that's not possible...maybe I didn't read through that whole guide, but I've never heard of that before....

All that pin-mod should do is increase the base FSB of the chip to 266/333 from 200 {FSB speed stock, X the Multi your chip has...in your case a 7X multi)...thus overclocking it without you having to change anything...So in theory at 333 that would kinda be a 2xmulti increase from stock, but if you OC beyond that, then you no longer have the benefits of the pin mod.

well I looked u alot of ppl that have the e4300 and allot of them got a muilt of 9 . mines 7 . owell ordered E8400 ocing that beast tomarow . got sick of that cpu oced nice @ 3200 mhz but owell . thanks tho

E4300 = 9
E4400 = 10
E4500 = 11
E4600 = 12 :eek:

So you have a fake chip im guessing

the pin mod raises the fsb that the cpu runs at, not the mulitplier.

however, somethings wrong with your story because the e4300 has a multiplier of 9x as stock, so you shouldn't have to "unlock" it so that you can get the 9x mulitplier.

Hence my post above yours. e4300 = 9x200 vs e6300 = 7x266.

I am starting to think its either that or EIST is kicking in causing the multi to drop, therefore when he checks it he is at a system idle.
