Hey guys, I know I don't come asking for help too often, but I have a strange issue with Movie Maker 2.1 and 2.6 in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Under Vista Movie Maker 2.6 worked just fine. In W7 my brother is encountering an issue that hardly makes sense. He uses WMV media he's gotten from a video capture device for making youtube videos to create content in Movie Maker 2.6. The content is added into the movie timeline and the video and audio are visually represented separately on the timeline. He will then add his narration to the audio which he's recorded using a separate device. On the timeline this is represented as the music track. When he adds the narration as a music track, he's done this before in vista, both the video's audio and the narration audio mute. This is the problem. When both audio streams are present on the timeline they are muted durring playback and when published.

If anyone could test this on their W7 machines using a WMV file and .wav audio and try to overlap the two, I would appreciate it greatly.

Binge I get out of work in about 4ish hours ..I will test for you then. Professional should be fine right?

You could have him try compatability mode to get around it for now ...or maybe even XP mode.

I'll give that a shot. Pro should be fine. Just make sure not to use Windows Live Movie Maker. He's using Movie Maker 2.6.

The issue ended up being that the audio track was .wav and for some reason his machine can't use .wmv movie clips without changing his audio to a different format. Hey I hate the software too, but this isn't my machine. Thanks DRDNA for your encouragement.
