Mozilla Corporation unveiled the "latest and greatest" version of its popular web-browser, Mozilla Firefox 4. With this release, the open-source browser achieves all essential features common with the latest generation of web-browsers that include Google Chrome 10+ and Microsoft Internet Explorer 9, which are: HTML5 support, and GPU-accelerated webpage drawing. Apart from being a lot faster than Firefox 3.6, the new browser sports a completely new user interface that shifts tabs to the titlebar, shifts menus to a "Firefox" button, and consolidates the address bar, search bar, and navigation buttons into a single line, which it refers to as the "Awesome Bar". Apart from a new bookmark manager, Firefox lets you group tabs to streamline multitasking on the browser. Mozilla Firefox 4 will be available to a variety of platforms.

should have intergrated that google search with the URL Bar imo, just as Chrome has it. im fairly certain IE has done it.

Not too fussed about that. You can still search with the URL bar anyway. In my case it uses Yahoo! Search (powered by Bing). lol

YAY firefail!! I have used ff at work for the past year and I have to admit it has crashed on me for the last time today.

I've been using opera for the past few days and it's hella fast.

Firefox usually "crashes" for me too in certain situations.

But then in the same circumstances Chrome does too. Opera does too. Safari does too. IE does too.

Firefox is nowadays the second slowest browser... Although the add-on support is great and something I would like to see on Chrome in the future. Chrome is so fast and convenient to use though so that's what I'm using.

yeah i use both and they both have given me a "hey were sorry" message. my prob is firefox nazis reporting otherwise when i use it everyday i think the feild is much more "level" than most report it to be. The addons in firefox are great but the only addons i use are to make it more like my opera.

my password manager add-on doesn't work even tho it works in IE and chrome

Real men of genius construct secure passwords and remember them completely mentally, without the need for password managing addons.

What Firefox has is far better anyway. Keywords are awesome and once you start using them you'll never use search field anymore. Plus they can be synced along with bookmarks. This way you have keywords on all computers and searching becomes pure pleasure.

Don't know about this one but the 3.6 crashes all the time........like 10 times a day

Well congrats to Mozilla! It has been a looong road. Anyway the browser is faster now, you can feel it. Also borrowed a little something from Opera... not a bad thing :)

Too bad it killed my Kaspersky/Acrobat addons, although I don't really feel it's Mozilla's fault, but rather Adobe/Kaspersky's.

Opera remains for me the browser of choice, since I can do everything inside it, but I still need IE and Mozilla to quick test sites I work on if they look OK. CS Live has now BrowserLab for this, but I don't really like it, it's slow and not very streamlined.

Maybe it would be smart to check you PC health...

Looks good so far.

Anyone else think that text is a little blurry with hardware acceleration enabled? It seems as though it is when I toggle the option. GPU accelerated browsing is noticeably faster though.

Yeah they should, Firefox has never crashed on me since ever, they prob haven't done a fresh install in years, i would recommend they do with new updates and keep firefox maintained with CCleaner.

It won't load my previous searches through my google toolbar now and I don't like where they moved the bookmarks tab....

Stop using the built-in bookmark tool, use Delicious bookmarks add-on, its the second best app right after Adblockplus, but do the firefox 4 fix.

What do you mean? After enabling the menubar and bringing down the tab bar it looks the same as 3.6.

Thanks for letting me know about Adblockplus.

But when I click on the previous search, nothing happens.

I've installed windows 7, windows xp sp3, and it's all the same, maybe not 10 but like 6 - 7 per day.

Runs like a charm. Not going back to Chrome because it crashed too much, especially opening .PDF's. Text is not blurry for me with Hardware accel enabled. Firefox4 FTW:rockout:

I have not had crashing problems, but found FF 3.6 was lacking from its previous days. If I open multiple browser screens I sometimes get a non-functional gray screen for example.
