My motherboard is dying and I need a replacement. mainly its the top pcie slot thats going out. its only works half the time and when it does work its only an 8x pcie 2.0 slot when it should be a 16x slot.
would the Foxconn A79A-S be a decent replacement? it has X6 support now which is a major plus for me. 4 x pcie 16 slots (16x/16x or 8x/8x/8x/8x) which i need cause i have my 5850, gtx260 physx and xfi titanium fatality pro audio.
I was thinking about upgrading to a 890fx but that meens i would need ram too and cant afford all of that at once. PLus ddr3 isnt a huge advantage over ddr2 1066 which is really the only difference since I dont have anything usb 3.0 or sata 6GB/s.
Also how is the overclocking ability with the foxconn? right now my 955c3 is at 3.8ghz but can do 3.9 stable. can the foxconn match that?
Only reason is im asking about the foxconn is I cant find any other 790fx ddr2 boards.
