My PC freezes after 10 minutes of non-use

Try a different driver and video cable maybe
Been waiting for someone to suggest this. :D These are often the culprits.

@RGT get the latest one from Intel's site, not Windows Update. If this doesn't fix it, try any old graphics card and see if the problem goes away.

Note that the other things suggested in this thread are still valid. :)

That sounds like new nv1070 and z1270 compatibility issue, latest bios update for both?

Have you tried to disable pcie power saving features in bios?

And yeah try newest 373.06 or older 368.xx & 365.xx

Unfortunately, he's already on the latest BIOS release, 1.50.

Don't know what version win10 installs, but this is video driver link from motherboard driver pages: http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Drivers/Intel/VGA/VGA(v15.40.20.64.4404).zip

Memtest86 passed.

I have tried to install another version of the graphics driver but, for some reason the latest version is always there.

Intel Graphics Driver installed: 20.19.15.4404

I have installed the latest version of the Intel Graphic's driver. See photo attached up.

I don't have a dedicated graphics, I'm using the Intel Graphics of the CPU.

A bit off topic, but I thought you ordered a MSI GTX1070 Gaming Z a while ago?
What happened with that? :)

right, well, I had received the package wet. I had returned it for a refund, 1 day after I saw a game and a powerlink device free from EVGA and I bought a FTW instead. But, I haven't received it yet. FTW was cheaper too.

My 2500k system developed this problem after a couple years, wound up trashing the motherboard and cpu, couldn't figure it out. Would crunch all day, let it idle for 15-20 minutes and it'd lock up.

What was the result of the SFC /scannow command?
And update the BIOS even if it already is using the latest version, last month someone brought me a computer that wouldn't wake up from sleep, resetting the BIOS wouldn't solve the problem even though it already had the latest BIOS version I flashed it and it solved the problem. So who knows if your current BIOS wasn't badly flashed from factory.

I have to agree Reset CMOS, your previous version could have been corrupt and left behind the same corruption. Once thats done go into your BIOS and apply the default configuration, then test it out. After that, if you make any adjustments save the profile and carefully keep track of what is changed each time you make a change.

I'm leaning towards that it might be going into hibernation instead of staying in sleep mode even with a clean install.

Maybe Dodgy motherboard vrm/controller? Even though asrock say 95watt CPU max I'm always skeptical of manufacturer rating that vrm heatsink is rather small dont you think?

How can I do a sfc scannow?.

I have updated the BIOS again.

Let's see what happens.

Play a movie or music and minimize it and let this take its course. If you can still hear the music/movie after re-awakening and this issue persists we all may be barking up the wrong tree.
