I have my third SSD coming tomorrow. I also am going ot have to reinstall windows again, sicne the last time i did with my Samsung 830 drive i didn't unplug my other drives so system files got put on my other drives so I can't format them.

How many SSDs are in your system right now? Do you plan to get more?

I am going to have 3 after tomorrow.

I have 0.

Just ordered Samsung 830 256GB. Due to them selling like hot cakes, gonna have to wait 9-12 days or even more until it arrives. Can't wait. First was planning for 128GB, but found 256GB for a better price/capacity, so went with it.

I use three. Wish they were larger.

I have a pair in raid 0. Will be like that for a while they are plenty fast for me.

One 128GB as my OS/programs drive. Once 512GB or larger drives come to an affordable price, I'll replace the 500GB WDC Black with one. I'm not really concerned with drive performance in any of my other machines, so I won't be moving away from hard drives in anything other than my main machine until SSDs are cheap like hard drives are.

I have a Vertex 4 256 GB sitting on my desk waiting for me to install it:(
Until then I guess I have none...

Just bought myself an OCZ Vertex 4 256gb as my main drive... It's my first time to use an SSD and I'm really happy I bought one... Programs run so much faster... I still use HDDs for storage though... :)

i also use 3, 2 of them in Raid 0 as system disk, the other one as swap, scratch-disk, disk cache, browser cache and other non essential function. i think its enough for now..

by the way, is it really necessary to unplug other conventional disk before installing OS on SSD? any proof that it will slowdown the SSD read/write? last time i just use acronis backup to restore all my system disk when i migrate to SSD. the problem is, according to windows control panel i have about 180 applications and games, reinstalling and re setting so many of them will take so much time.

Anytime I do a clean install I unplug my other drives. I dont want to risk losing data. I just got a ssd vertex 3 120Gb and love it.

I did that once:( I was a little under the influence and not paying close enough attention. I ended up formating the wrong hd:shadedshu

4.

One in the HTPC as a boot drive (I wanted fast wakeup/resume/etc)
Two in my main rig in raid 0
One in my notebook

What do you mean you can't format them?

The "hidden" boot partition and directory.
If you install with only 1 drive it is forced to be installed on THAT one.
If you install with multiple drives it tends to install the hidden files on another drive=>if later you take the second drive out (or format ^^), Windows won't boot!

Isn't that coursed by installing the OS on the 2nd HDD\SSD setup in the bios..

So what happened is that when he installed the OS he installed it on the 2nd one which puts files on the 1st HDD\SSD and isn't that solvable though rebuilding the boot sector and what not of the drive that the OS is installed on ?.

I purchased 3 and gave them all away in TPU contests, so I have none. DOH !!
Maybe one of these days when I decide to upgrade my rig I'll get one.
My RAID0 HDDs do me just fine for now.

Have an adata 64 in current rig for os with hdd for storage. In my new build have 2 120gb kingston hyper x in raid zero for os and 1 adata 120 for work programs and 3 tb storage

i have 1, my HyperX 120GB that was given to me by my father in-law. I plan to get a 256GB in the future so that I can have more games on my SSD :D then I will put the HyperX in my daughter's rig so she can experience SSD boot times and such.

Have 2 256gb 830s, one system drive and one games drive. I just picked up a 128gb Vertex4 pretty cheap but it's still sitting here in its packaging. I need to get around to changing it around. I'd love to have just ssds in my pc, and then setup up a nas with all data, files, media, which is my goal but it's more of a long term goal lol.

+1 for unplugging Ann other dries when installing windows, a lesson learnt the hard way years back.

Yeah I'd say somehow during the last few months they finally lost their "luxury item" status based on price. Generally speaking...

To answer your question, I presently own three but only running one at this time. I was actually a pretty early adopter of a 30GB original Vertex for $100 AR back in summer of '09. Played with it for a few months then sold.

For sure!!!!

I got a couple i use for the test rig, and got a couple of M4 128 GB drives sitting here now too. I might have to use those for some RAID testing though...not sure.

SSDs are awesome!!! I don't think I'll buy another mechanical...512 GB drives for $300? That's affordable, to me!!! It's like buying a velociraptor drive...but oh so much better!

Yeah I'm not sure exactly what happened in the market or whatever but I'm definitely glad.

I'm certainly happy with the price drops. Now I just need to wait for 512s to come down to $150-200, which would be pure bliss. Snatch a few of those for pure pc happiness.

1-128GB Plextor M5S

Four in RAID 0.

I've got a single Corsair 240GB. Once the 480's come down in price quite a bit, then I'm going to replace my old one with it. I like having a 1-hardware-piece-per-machine policy, makes for less kinks.
