I would not set the NB to auto, but i would lower it to 1.3.
It might get a bit hot with 1.4 if u dont have really good cooling.
I noticed mine went so hot that i could almost burn my finger on it , and thats on 1.3
I'll agree that running the voltage at a specific amount makes sense. But I will advise that all NB are usually very hot. Having built thousands of computers and repaired thousands more, I do consider myself a very skilled hardware guy.
When it comes to overclocking/tweaking system settings, I'm a little lost sometimes, I really havent messed around since the Socket 7 days of changing 10 jumper settings.
