Mystical System Instability

I would not set the NB to auto, but i would lower it to 1.3.
It might get a bit hot with 1.4 if u dont have really good cooling.
I noticed mine went so hot that i could almost burn my finger on it , and thats on 1.3

I'll agree that running the voltage at a specific amount makes sense. But I will advise that all NB are usually very hot. Having built thousands of computers and repaired thousands more, I do consider myself a very skilled hardware guy.

When it comes to overclocking/tweaking system settings, I'm a little lost sometimes, I really havent messed around since the Socket 7 days of changing 10 jumper settings. :)

Ahh, didnt know that :p when i was messing with my system for a couple of weeks ago, i put my finger on my NB to check how hot it was, and i almost burned my finger..
So, i went like: WTF OMG ITS TOO HOT , so i almost paniced away to the computer store and bought 4 new chassie fans (120mm) and a new cpu cooler (120mm)... lol...
kinda ... erhm... waste... because the system wasnt so hot before with the stock stuff, but now, its really cold...
13c is the lowest ive recorded my cpu temp to be in idle, and even on 3.2ghz, its at 17-20c idle, and full load for over an hour it maxed out around 39-40c

the first "oc" i did was with a 486 comp... the overdrive thingy u actually put into the computer , i think it was 66mhz or something... up from 33mhz i think :D that was imba!
Sink sub pro was really fun at that thing...

BONK!

Ok, so it's been a long while now.

I have recently replaced by unsupported Linksys WMP54GS which Windows 7 64-bit uses a generic Broadcom driver for. I've got myself a nice D-Link DWA-552 for $30 because it's a refurb, LOL 60% off!

So my system has been running ever so smooth with this card, the remaining issues ended up being some crashing when Alt-Tabing with WoW.

New card in and no issues.

Just today I bumped the memory up again.

RAM is 1066MHz, 5-5-5-18 (not going to try 15 yet) @ 2.1v MB NorthBridge @ 1.40v

So far I've had Prime95 going, and ran the Windows Expereince Index. So I will keep testing.

In conclusion... it was a bad stick of RAM, but also a Wireless NIC that really should have been replaced due to driver availability.

Very interesting stuff Coops ! Really glad its been solved with all issues u had :)
I really like Ket's modified bios, ive even bumped my cpu up to 3.41ghz and a memory overclock to 850mhz (cpu stock : 2,66ghz, memory stock: 800mhz) and im using 1.312v for the cpu and 1.9v for the memory (1.8v is stock), and 1.3v NB and its running smoother then never before... if you havent tried ket's modded bios, i suggest u try it :toast:
These are my 24/7 clocks and its been ages since last bluescreen :)

You should think about 2x2gb sticks of ram. Get the best of both worlds..
