can someone help me with the tightening of the water block?
I've had the dang thing off 3 times and i just pulled it off and only 2/3rd's of the block was covered with the arctic silver 5 compound...
I smeared the whole cpu this time and spread it even across the whole cpu... I then smeared the water block and wiped it off with a lint free rag to just fill in the imperfections and bolted her on... i then tightened it down just enough so i could rotate it back n forth to help remove any air bubbles between the fit... then i tightened it up on all 4 corners and then lightly backed the screws off so i had a bought the same movement as my V1 air cooler... Am i doing something wrong?
It's my first attempt at the H2o cooling so please keep the giggles to your self lol:toast:

Is the block hitting any capacitors or anything near the socket? Look under the block where it overhangs the cpu.

no trust me... there isn't any thing obstructing the matting of the two surfaces...
I think I've been ripped off... my V1 cooler holds better temps then this thing does...
If by morning this thing hasn't settled out ill be returning it and mabey look into a floor mount stand alone system...

Just build your own. Much, much better idea. It's no harder than putting together a bigwater.

Heck my V1 air cooler mounted so well that all i would do is put a bb sized amount of the paste smack dab in the center of the processor and clamp her down and after removing it all I'd see was a perfect mate between the two surfaces

Ok, just as you have experienced. Avoid Thermaltake water cooling products. They are crap. lol.

You don't need to build an external setup. You can just use a Radbox, and mount a rad to the back of your case. No modding involved. And it will leave plenty of space inside your PC.

How much (in $US if you could) are you looking to spend?

Cpu Block: http://www.petrastechshop.com/dfuv2uncpuwa.html
Rad/res: http://www.petrastechshop.com/swmcqposerab3.html
Pump: http://www.petrastechshop.com/laddc1mcin12.html
Radbox for mounting rad: http://www.petrastechshop.com/swmcrre2raho.html

I would stick to 3/8" tubing, because it can easily pass thru any unused expansion slots. 1/2" would likely require you to mod your case for pass-thru holes. Choice is your, really.

If you stick with 3/8" you'll need fittings for the rad and cpu block.
Rad fittings: http://www.swiftech.com/store/product_details.asp?ProdID=430
Cpu Block fittings: http://www.petrastechshop.com/dhifig1th3od.html
Need to order 2 of each.

If you go with 1/2", it would probably be easiest to use a different pump.
http://www.petrastechshop.com/lad5smcin12v.html

Then all you should need to buy is the tubing and clamps. I get them from my local Lowes. Tubing is a couple of dollars for 10ft, and clamps are dirt cheap too. Remember to choose your tubing by it's inside diameter, but choose your clamps based on the tubing's outside diameter.
