Need for Speed Carbon Demo released

I dunno to be honest, but it runs very well in my opinion. A lot more than 30 fps

Oh well, aslong as you get the desired effect ;)

Sorry, I can't remember my system specs, its a dell Optiplex GX280 with a pentium 4, 40GB hard drive, 512MB RAM, not sure what video card I have but I know it ain't exactly shit. Just got the computer in May of 2005, will be getting a new one next may. Hopefully this will help someone figure it out for me. I am running Windows XP SP2, and I just upgraded my direct X to 9.0C

That was one and a half year ago!! It's a long time in the world of computers. It's more than likely that you don't have a powerful enough graphic card, also not enough RAM too.

What sort of idle temps you get with that Pentium D?

About 50c idle - 60c load, I think thats abit high personally, thats with stock hsf seated perfectly, ive bought a h20 solution which will be here on tuesday along with some as5 so hopefully that will bring my temps down abit! Ive had it for 6 weeks so its defo had a burn in!

mine is higher than that idle and load, and I'm not even on stock cooler :'(

Wow, that must be how they get? apparently thermal throttling does'nt kick in until 85c, but cooler the better isnt it? have you got plenty through air?

I figured out that the problem is my current drivers do not support pixel shading, which is new for this version of NFS. There are new drivers for my specific card that support pixel shading but it appears as though I do not have enough memory to my graphics card, is there a way of changing this?

I dont know if the agp aperature would fix that issue?

Oh jiipi !!! i tried it.Put erverything at full 11 fps... hehe :p

Look at the PC in my sig. I mean, I reckon the airflow is good. Obviously not :(

Yeah them 80mm fans get the air moving but the 120mm get it really shifting, i have a wire sort of side panel so I just have all mine blowing in and the air just gets extracted through psu and wire messing!

So what you think I can do to improve airflow? The case was made to only support 80mm fans...and I have no experience in modding...

Just make sure as many cables are out the way of flow as possible, dont try and put 2 fans on each other, that wont work, you could also go water cooling like me on tuesday! :)

Yeah cos we can all afford water cooling at the age of 15 with no job :(

Ahh yeah, i forgot, you should get yourself a little part time job or ask santa for it!

Maybe you will just have to live with your temps, they wont kill your system, just decrease performance slightly and die younger, but lets face it you will have upgraded by then!

;)

Yeah I know but it's so annoying because I can't put my side panel on because everything gets hot...and I want the temps to stay the same as if the side was off...:banghead:

My GPU goes from 34*C to 44*C just by putting the side on. CPU goes from 50*C to 60*C odd...

I really want to be able to put the side on!!! :banghead:

Its funny how we get so obsessed with temps these days, back in the old days I could'nt care, but I suppose things do get hotter now though! I dont know whatelse to suggest! Try getting a few more 80mm fans and mounting them yourself some how in your case at specific hot spots! :banghead:

Few questions

1) Does having an I/O plate make any difference?? (I don't have one so there is a big gap where it should be)

2) I seem to feel slightly hot air coming from my PSU. This must be blowing hot air into my case, correct?

3) Does it matter where I put the fans as long as they extract?

4) Why does this case remind me of the film "Towering Inferno" when the side panel is on??

I can't put more fans in if they won't blow the air anywhere...there is nowhere for it to go...

No, but it will help it to move around, remember the sensors exaggerate temps also with very little movement!

1, I would'nt think so

2, the psu extracts from tower

3, if you have 1 blowing inwards and 1 extracting for circulation benefits

4, burn baby burn lol

There's definitely hot air coming from my PSU. The metal underneath it is quite hot..what a suck ass PSU...

Maybe I should dremel my entire side panel and put about a million 120mm fans on it...but no...

The case costs £90 and sucks cock, :wtf: wtf!!!

psu's generate heat, thats normal, more of a load the hotter it gets, the fan inside it helps to draw air over the internal components, but it also draws the air from inside the case, mine has 2 fans, 1 sucking air in from inside case and 1 exhausting it out the back!
