Alright.. finnally obliterated my 9th sidekick.. lets just say that the POS decided to switch to Vibe&Ring from vibrate only and it decided to play this really annoying ringtone at a time where i dont want to be disturbed and was already mad... so yeah.. fucking thing started ringing.. i was like excuse me.. i gotta go shut it off.. took the fucking phone.. threw it against the wall watch it break into pieces and walked back to resuming what i was doing feeling very liberated. whatever i do.. im not getting another sidekick..

heres what i was considering

-LG voyager w/ verizon

basically i was told its an iphone with a keyboard... its looks preety sweet.. touch screen and all really nice phone.. problem is that it is UDMA only.. meaning i cant use it with GSM... which is what my cingular cell account is.

-Iphone w/ virtual keyboard on existing cingular account

grab an iphone.. hook it to my existing cingular account and attach a virtual keyboard (http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/input/8193/) and get my texting that way... i mainly text in class and i know a bunch of guys that use a virtual keyboard and the teachers dont realize that they use virtual keyboards so yeah... what should i do... also im assuming that iphone has the ability to run multiple aim/msn/yahoo screenames at once right? cause thats what i really need.. on both phones also the virtual keyboard does pose a downside as it needs a flatsurface.. but i do most of my texting in class on a flat desk and mostly calling after schools over so yeah.

which should i pick and why... they amount to do the same i think.. after verizon activation fees etc it should come out the same as if i got the virtual keyboard and an iphone.. not sure..

I've never been a fan of anything apple.. My parents have had Verizon for as long as they've had an aol account, so they've never had a problem with that...
I'd go voyager myself, but most people would go apple... Its a trend... enough said..

gotta look at the verizon plans and crap too.. make sure they aren't too much more expensive then what i pay for cingular.. cause i got a damn nice deal on cingular... like unlimited texting 10 bucks and like 80 bucks for all of those minutes i use

I loved Cingular before they tried what they did.. I had a corporate discount, so i spent about 50 for everything... and I had about 4 thousand roll over mins... But then they did me wrong and I don't think I'd go back.. lol. Now to see what my new company shows... Oh the fun of working in a hospital!

lol, so what do you use now for your cell provider?

Nothing right now... Paid them off, and I'm waiting for the new company to come in and show us all their bells and whistles... then if they don't have anything good.. I have about 3 days left before I'm no longer a Compass person! lol

dont go for the iphone the onscreen keyboard is annoying as hell

thus the holographic keyboard to accompany it

anyone use verizon's internet? cause the voyager doesn't have wifi meaning i'd have to youtube using verizon's network on the voyager.. whereas the youtube over wifi feature on the iphone is preety darn nice!

nokia n95 8gb,
symbian os, an a shitload of software availiable

nokia n81 8gb all the way ;)
i got one of them, they're great!!!

the iPhone is great, i have it and i like it alot. unless your getting to be "kool" then you probly wouldnt like it. i got it cause i can/do use every feature on it. and the onscreen keyboard is fine and i have huge hands and still works for me.

problem with nokias is that i want it to have texting. MUST HAVE A QWERTY KEYBOARD. iphone being the exception as its a onscreen one and so i may buy a virtual keyboard because iphone is sexy and really cool.

Blackberry Curve FTW

Most of the engineers here in my building have Blackberrys, and 90% of the IT guys I know have em as well. Never heard any complaints, and they're all constantly in use. All the foremen in this 400+ person shop have em for the e-mail-on-the-spot. Whenever there's a quality alert you can listen for the slight dinging noise from the Blackberrys around here.

From what I hear, they are highly recommended.

I prioritize my mobile phone featurelist a little differently than most of my contemporaries. I didn't even go mobile until 2003, because I dislike having hooks into me everywhere I go.

So anyway, I'd never consider an iPhone. My current phone, the second I've ever owned (I'd still be on my first if Cingular weren't so rabid to get me to switch to a GSM phone that they gave me the new one for free) is a Nokia 6030. It embodies everything I like about a mobile phone--I only have to charge it every seven to ten days and when I do it reaches full charge in about an hour, and it has no hinges or vulnerable frills that make it especially prone to breaking. I can create and transfer my own ringtones, images, and other media to it. And it can access the Internet in a pinch--it's relatively durable, straightforward, and low-maintenance.

So my recommendation? See past the glitz to the core functions that you need. Get something that you don't need to plug into a wall every day. Get something that won't break if dropped. Bear in mind that plastic devices that constantly ride around in pockets and purses accumulate marks and scratches with time. Get something that's not a giant "face" (ie the iPhone).

lol cant help you on this one a phone to me is somthing that makes a call and maybe a text i dont care about the rest waste of money lol.

watch what you get...

CDMA is almost dead, that means verizon, sprint, alltel are all gonna be switching there phones out in the next 6-9months.

what's replacing CDMA? LTE!

LTE is a 4th gen GSM derivative. LTE provides up to 126mb/s of bandwidth to your phone over the newly acquired 700mhz band. ALL GSM and CDMA carriers are switching to LTE over the next 8-15months.

so keep that in mind.... if you stick with a GSM carrier you'll be good for about a year. i can't say the same for CDMA though.

oh well fit, i just got my lg voyager and i ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! it is so much freaking fun to play around with the touch screen and i actually like the screen better then the iphone's. also the keyboard is very nice and accomodates me a lot better then sidekicks. i tried the blackjack and my typing was atrotious.. i kept hitting like 2 keys at once.. i tried to type samsung to a friend on the blackjack and it came out as "assamung" yeah so. love the youtubing and web browsing it let me post on tpu.. and let me youtube with no problems.. it was hilarious blasting "BOOM BOOM BOOM I WANT YOU IN MY ROOM" at max volume (which is preety loud and clear on the voyager.. woo hoo) in front of the verizon guys and watching my gf imitate a ripe red tomato.. and it took an awesome picture of her too so yeah.. the phone is really freaking fun and i love it.

i paid ~450 bucks after taxes for everything and i got

-new verizon account
-the voyager
-4 gb sandisk micro sd card
-secondary battery
-car charger/home charger
-2 year contract =/ but i'll probably make em drop it when i annoy the hell outta em lol

and so it was a great buy and i love it and have had so much fun with it and i've not used one for more then 1-2 hours.. highly recommend it.

Glad to see you got a new phone man! sweetness isn't a word for the deal you got! and fitseries, Its doing it all over. its time for a change and so forth... most contracts give the person that signs for a 2 year, the chance to upgrade in a year of getting the phone so you can then extend the contract and so forth.. but that is good advice that your giving out to whoever is looking for it in the future.

just trying to help.

oh yeah it did help. I didn't know anything about that. all ways thought GSM was going to be a round a lot longer...
