need help with installing a video card

I have just bought a 3870 HIS video card and I was going to install it when it got here . The thing is is I am kind of a newbi and I would like to know do I have to turn off my onboard video after I do the install and if so what does it look like in my bios:eek::respect:

No onboard will turn itself off when a PCI-I card is installed.

In the bios there will be a setting LIKE start with PCI(Which is onboard) or PCI_E
