I'm looking for an EEE-PC type laptop, I'm looking for one with roughly the Spec of the EEE-PC 901 so things I want from it:
Intel atom @1.6ghz, the VIA C7 processor sounds good too.
512mb ram or greater
20GB or greater hard drive (SSD or hard disk don't mind)
Graphics card doesn't matter as I won't be playing games on this
802.11g or n if possible
battery around the 4 hour mark or longer (don't mind if this is on minimum settings)
same weight as the EEE-PC 901 or lighter
Preferable if a linux version is available as I have a copy of XP enterprise edition SP 2 lying around doing nothing.
Here's the problem, I want a keyboard the size of the EEE-PC 1000 and ideally a normal integrated mouse something like the one on the EEE-PC 1000.
So, is this too much to ask for less than £250?
List of ones that I've looked at so far: EEE-PC 901, didn't like the size of the keyboard, mouse felt weird, wrong side of £250 otherwise perfect.
Acer aspire one, overall very good, keyboard is usable, mouse gives me quite a few problems and I'd need to buy a six cell battery which would put it the wrong side of £250
EEE-PC 1000, usable mouse and keyboard, too heavy and £100 too much
Not really seen any others that fit my desired spec.
Here's the best comparison I've found of them yet, seems to be a few months out of date though.

i picked up an acer aspire one, and i love it.. it has the 8gb SSD, but i added an 8gb sdhc card to the expansion slot, its enough for me.. also loaded xp onto it via a usb cdrom drive, it runs xp better than the linpus os that it came with.. hehe

As I stated in the OP I really don't like the mouse on the aspire one.

I went with the Eee PC 1000H. Same specs as the Eee PC 1000, but with a standard 80GB HDD instead of the 40GB SDD. It came with XP Home, but the price was still $100 less than the Eee PC 1000 with Linux. I put Vista on it and it is wonderful. Battery life in Vista with the screen at almost full brightness(two notches from max) in power saving mode is just about 4 hours.

Sorry but the 1000's too heavy to justify replacing my laptop with seeing as it costs me £349 which is almost as much as my laptop cost a year ago and I really don't want to have to carry a heavy laptop round.
Someone will get thanks when they suggest one and provide a link to it, if you suggest an EEE-PC 1000 or 1000H it'll have to be around the £250 mark for me to consider one because the weight's a problem and i really don't want to use vista if I can get away with it.

Your current laptop only weights 3 Pounds? What laptop do you currently have that weights that little? The Eee PC is far from heavy.

Anyway, there is also the MSI Wind, which you should be able to findd under it's generic name Advent 4211 for close to £250 with Linux.

I want it to be half the weight of my current one which is roughly 2.5kg I think, simply because it feels like I'm carrying a brick in my rucksack when I carry it round, I don't use one of those over the shoulder bags since I have a 15 minute walk to the station every day to get to school and they wreck my shoulders. Anyway, thanks I'll have a look into the advent 4211, cheapest I've seen it for is £280 from PC world though, anyway thanks.

The Eee PC 1000H is only 1.4KG, that is more than 1KG less than your current laptop, definitely lighter. Not exactly half, but I don't think you will find a netbook that fits your needs that is much lighter. The MSI Wind is only 1.2KG though.

Ok then, looks like I might have to wait until christmas to get the money now so I'll have to put up with the brick until then, problems is though that the 1000 is £100 is over budget.
