Yeah 600ks are usually pretty efficient but we're working with a pretty tight power budget here... 560w. Do you think the 13400 is a bad choice in this case? I mean it does leave more room for the PSU to breathe and the 13400 comes with a cooler doesn't it? That helps the also tight financial budget here.

i will pick up such chip over 13100f if the price difference is way less than 100 euros. As such im better of later investing the 100 saved in the final upgrade being a 14600 on the mobo somewhere down the line IF needed..

Given the 12400's impressive price-to-performance ratio, the question becomes whether it's worth it to step up to the Core i5-12600K. If you're focused primarily on gaming, the Core i5-12600K is 2.5% faster at stock settings, which isn't worth

Nah, it's fine. CPUs don't consume more than 100 W when gaming, it's miles below GPU appetites.

And GPUs, especially if we lower settings and undervolt a bit, capped to 75 FPS would be ~180 W.

50% load doesn't kill any normal PSU.

What do can speak for a 12600 instead of 12400 is that its idle appeals more to me, but again it depends on the price on black friday if i make that call as the 12600 needs better cooler as the else chosen 13100

Yeah I know I said practically the same thing

The idea was to try and get some decent graphic performance without having to upgrade the psu. I think it might just be okay. Worst case 225 + 225 = 450, with 110w left for everything else, which is plenty if we're talking mobo, ssd, ram and a couple fans.

I think my setup is currently running on thinner margins than that

I guess it was more... I wasn't sure why the choice against the 12600k and in favour of a 13400 was met with resistance. Just because it only uses 20w more watts?

Its not like there's a big performance delta.

Look any i5 can be combined with a 4070 in a 550psu. The problem is amd cards just have not that efficiency to make such a combination.

So this is max but you could argue a bit higher gpu eg. a 4070ti and a lower i3, this is a bit the bandwith for a 550psu.

Yup we are in agreement about that, amd cards, especially the older ones have more power spikes generally.

Yup, which is why we were looking for an i5 and 4070 for you. Why are you thinking we are at odds here or something?

don't understand what you mean with what at odd?
I'm just saying we are in agreement. i5 and a 4070 is always what I thought was a good choice for your psu. Your recent posts trying to prove that point to me, made it seem like there was disagreement. I felt like there may have been some miscommunication somewhere, is all.

we are far from a disagreement my friend, no worries.

Yes i5 13400 or so and a 4070 are a solid choice but cost several 100s more, lets await what at black friday happens.

A 12600k or kf is a good chip but from a european point of view when being an energy efficient conscious person the chip isnt that attractive anymore more so because of its stronger
heat development. A 13400 or lower can than take of the edge.

Energy consumption comparison: https://i.ibb.co/CvKxDsW/Screenshot-from-2023-11-10-15-04-28.png

This is the CPU + motherboard energy consumption in idle.

Keep in mind that the Intel 12600KF is more efficient (in idle) than the 12600K (non F) version.
12600KF consumes only 3.5 W in idle (if you don't include the motherboard)

We can say that the R5 7600X consumes 9W more than the 12600KF in idle.
My eleven years old GTX 650 1GB consumes 6W in idle, and 6W is less than the difference between the 12600KF and the R5 7600X..

12600kf on my list, what cooler you recommend would an arctic freezer 7 x co be enough?

noctua nh u 12s redux any good? maybe a bit better quality..

It will work fine.

Arctic Freezer i35 = € 23,99 in Europe
Scythe Kotetsu Mark 3 = $27.99 in the USA

Noctua NH-U12S redux is overpriced because Arctic and Scythe are quality brands.

You don't need to take something more expensive if you just want a decent product.
