New Nvidia card.

Hi I have in the last couple of weeks to a Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB AMP Extreme Edition I am having problems I can play Fallout 4, Prey with no problems but when I try to play previous call of duty games they play okay the first time but when I try to load they crash just as the game is about to start. I don't know what settings should I use, should I use NVidia Experience and let it set the games. I was so used to and I am quite lost with the new card.

What about the Steam community.

Edit: reinstall the game(s)?

Maybe someone else on TPU can chime in, I don't own these games myself.

so, to be clear, you can start a game once, but if you exit out amd try to go back in it crashes?

As far as in game settings, i prefer to set them myself.

This has nothing to do with your graphics settings, there's clearly a glitch somewhere.

So, do those other CoDs run once you've rebooted the PC?

btw, I approve of your graphics card as I've got one too. :cool:

Have tried reinstalling the games and operating system, all the games are in steam, I will try older drivers and contact steam forum.

By any chance is this a new install of W10? If so, did you install older Direct X? Or if you did, perhaps set compatibility for those older game executables?

Another possibility: do you run antivirus? For instance, BitDefender has a feature you can turn on or off that automatically will not allow games, but WILL give you an option to approve that game after first run, otherwise it won't run again.

Also, always read through the discussions on each game on Steam. There is a good chance the problem has been found. I have a tremendous number of games on GOG, but the first place I go to look for solutions is the Steam game discussions, because of sheer volume of users.

Yes it is the new win 10 I have tried to install direct x run time but it won't let me, it says that it has found a newer version.

Sorry AsRock I don't understand, and qubit no matter how many times I reboot or reinstall them I can not get back into them and the internet security I use is avast., I will have a look through it later as the wife is playing Fallout 4 with no problems., not fare.

It should take it. You ran Direct X 2008 or June 2010? June 2010 direct x 9 should install fine.

In steam were you see the game installed if you right click and go in to the properties, Local files tab and it's there. That will verify all the game files.

Weird, it looks as if something gets corrupted after the initial run. Try turning off prefetch, maybe Windows is trying to optimize the game load too hard?
It's a long shot (and you don't want to run Windows 24/7 with prefetch off), but I think it's worth a shot.

Edit: Also check if the game creates cache files itself. It is does, delete them.

Hi I done what you said AsRock about verifying all the game files and also I started the game from the play button within steam not the desktop and so far call of duty warfare 111 works, I will keep my fingers crossed. thanks for all the help and advice from all. Regards.

It's still strange those files were corrupted. Then again, if this was rare, Steam wouldn't have built-in file checking
