New Prototype Reservoir, Opinions?

So here is a new design I cam up with while I wait for this new shipment of cathodes to come in for my other reservoirs. While it's a small capacity reservoir, with a few revisions, it will end up looking very abstract and unique. The LED pillars can be lit any color. I also just used UV Blue dye in the coolant I put in there. That 8" cathode right behind the cylinder really illuminates the coolant.

Opinions, criticisms, changes, wants?

UV Cathode On, LED Pillars Off

UV Cathode On, LED Pillars On

that would look cool if you made it go from the bottom of the case to the top(with the fill on the top of the case)
like a piller of light in the center of the comp.

if you cut a hole in the top the OD diam of the res it could just slide down....Than if you made some return holes in the back side of the res and ran 90deg fittings straight across to the cpu, Chipset and GPUs it would look even cooler.
(too bad mobos dont have the parts all in the same place)

Very true, I might make another one of these tomorrow, and see how adding some extra ports works.

dam it now you got me thinking of one:mad:

Imagine one oval shaped about 5" across and 1 1/2thick. Than mount it from the bottom of the case to the top where the video card power plugs are. Than punch a few 3" holes and mount my modded silenx fans in the center of it (to supply air to the video cards)
(it would look like the fans were floating in the center of the res)

screw this I got too much to do... Ok "YOU" make res's, I got anime to watch and CF to mold.

one other tidbit... are you gluing them ? If so have you thought about o-rings? (I did a bunch of prototypes for a company and it made them really easy to dis assemble, didnt have to wait for glue to dry, and cleaning was so easy as they could be disassembled quickly.

I pressure tested mine to 75psi (lol, before the plastic started to bow and I chickened out)

I have no capabilities to thread acrylic tubes of that size...or else I would. The gluing works fine after you get good at it. However, hopefully soon I can do the oring ordeal.

I cheated for the first ones, I took a (really cheap)2" diam hole saw and cut off its teeth than rounded its cutting edge. Than I clamped the tube in a jig in my drill press and mounted the hole saw in the chuck. I took a torch and heated up the hole saw and basically pressed into the tube to make a nice round groove.
Threads are extremely hard to do in acrylic (if you look close at the surface after with a microscope you will see the beginnings of tons of tiny cracks) I used heat/molding to eliminate most of the cracks

looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
