On the bright side, Ryujinx still exists (for now), and I'm sure someone will fork Yuzu at some point.

I wish people would stop supporting Nintendo, but unfortunately, the general population doesn't give two shits about how awful of a company they are.

well, RIP yuzu hey. At least we already have the development and library up to here to fall back on, but man a sad day in emulation :(

I just want Sony to release a good emulation support for the PS3 that runs on the PS5 or whatever system they release.
Should be easily possible since a similarly spec'd PC (3700X & RX 6700) runs PS3 emulation fine. With some optimization etc. should be totally possible.

Just like they did with some PS3s when they ran PS2 games via emulation.

Not all games are supported yet for the PS3 emulator, the 2 games I have my eye on wanting to play is a Gundam game and Drakengard 3. Which are not fully supported yet from what I remember checking.

Hm, I've heard that Drakengard 3 works well, actually better than on actual hardware. Haven't tried myself though.

This goes beyond Yuzu and Citra emulators and could kill emulation in general.

what makes me sick to my stomach is that is obviously some very carefully prepared statement that reeks of "our lawyers told us to grovel to Nintnedo, kiss their ring and their ass" Akin as if you were some poor sap in North Korea who is saying whatever they need to, to please the dictatorship kinda shit.

Oh, just now they seemingly have a conscious about this?! They knew what they were doing from the start, and then flew too close to the sun. Now we're all getting burned. The dev team is making an ass of themselves with this routine. It's pathetically weak, no backbone. On the other hand, I'm not them, I don't know the details, maybe I'd cave in and fold up like a cheap lawn chair too.

The real people that should be blamed is the literal retards who stream themselves playing games before they even released. Super Mario RPG's remake, the newest Zelda game were some high profile games to get that treatment. They brought a ton of negative attention to the project doing that sort of shit.

But lets quit the theatrics. This will not kill emulation in general, period. This was a mostly unique situation as most emulation projects are done on defunct consoles while this one was still selling like hot cakes. It obviously had far more attention around it as a result. There is still plenty of legal precedent and the fact this never got it's day in court does absolutely nothing to harm, or help, emulation legal precedent. Though, it's pretty clear Nintendo just flexed up like a mobster boss would do. Yuzu lose/pays either way. They go to court, win case, they are paying fees. They lose, they pay fees. Groups with large reserves like Nintendo can just bleed out another group in the legal system.

Spending several million dollars on legal expenses is nothing for big corpo like Nintendo. Little guy can get destroyed. Sony destroyed Bleem over 20 years ago by dragging them trough court for years. Bleem went bankrupt. Bleem was creator of PS1 emulator for PC. But it is too late for Switch. Yuzu is very functional at this state. And you will always find where to download the latest build. Nintendo will now repeat the process with Ryunix. And as soon some emulator for "Switch 2" pops up, they will repeat the process.

Instead of teaming up with these devs and offering emulator-ready rips at a reduced price... They would still make a profit, and it wouldn't eat into Switch sales (much) because handheld consoles are an entirely different cattle of fish. Oh no, better to destroy lives of innocent people. What a horrible corporate nightmare we live in! :(

If Nintendo weren't a bunch of stubborn asses about how they conduct business this wouldn't be a problem at all.
In fact they'd be swimming in cash like Scrooge McDuck right now.

They provide zero incentive for consumers other than, buy our hardware and you can have some of the classics.
Super shocking when the the overwhelming reply to that is:

As long as Nintendo doesn't get in a critical financial situation, this won't happen. Sega became a PC company because they couldn't survive as a console maker, and PlayStation started doing things on the PC when they became a western company. Nintendo is an old Japanese company with hardware selling like hot cakes and they are mostly out of touch with the modern world. (They wanted to take shares into the income of streamers and YouTubers playing their games.

Their one saving grace is that, beside Pokémon, they are one of the few companies that still commit to not release a broken game on release.

The problem was the huge amount of money yuzu creators made from patreon, can't really say it's free when it is behind a pay wall., was the main reason i stuck to Ryujinx, which seems to get daily updates.

If you don't collect money, it's probably harder for Nintendo to call you a pirate in court.

Oh we do it because we love the emulator scene......thx that will be $40 please, here's the download link.

I think Nuzu is already shut down as it was a 14 year old (rumoured) who started it only to ask for programmers to do the work. Ryujinx is from Brazil so Nintendo wont be able to do anything against them. Nintendo Lawyers would be sent to the Favelas and never seen again.

That and more...court documents leaked out, Nintendo had moles in the yuzu community, and saw them breaking all kind of rules like hacking the console, pirating games, distributing said pirated games to other people, playing those games etc... I would guess that other emulators that aren't so upfront about somehow hvaing acess to pirated games before the release date are safe...

No doubt there are only honest Yuzu users on TPU.
Buying game with real $, and ripping them to play with the emulator ...

But I wonder how many people just pirating, dowloading game on internet like "everything's free you know ...

I knew Yuzu was going to get it in the neck as soon as they setup a company to make money off their emulation, thus violating the basic unwritten agreement between console manufacturers and emulator authors:

You can emulate whatever you want, and we won't come after you, as long as you don't make money off it.

bleem! broke that agreement and Sony put them six feet under. Yuzu was stupid enough to do the same and not expect Nintendo to tombstone them. Given that the Yuzu devs were very obviously working with unreleased ROMs which is unambiguously illegal, Nintendo really didn't have to try very hard. In short, this is once again the tale of stupid people getting their comeuppance.
