....ofcourse pc can do more than gaming and ofcourse everyone have or should have PC for work, school etc.... but having PC as your gaming system is not worth it if you dont have the top components. having 7600gt, x1600s, x1300s, 8600s, 2600s is a waste.

must have something like:

- QX6850/FX-74
- 4gig ram
- x1950xtx/7900gtx/2900xt/8800ultra

.... if not you can forget about gaming system on pc and just use for work, school etc... play your games on a console.

Besides most titles from the pc are ported to consoles and if you like your mouse-keyboard on your FPS... heard you can connect the mouse-keyboard to a console. Also consoles has variety of genre... like fighting, adventure, etc... devil may cry, gran turismo, metal gear, god of war, rygar, onimusha dawn of dreams, midnight club 3, ridge racer 7, dead or alive 4, virtua fighter 5, mario, crahs bandicoot, fatal frames, resident evil 4 etc....

while pc games is all similar game... fps....shooting... tahts it no other genre... and if other genre... you cannot play it confortablely example... playing prince of persia psychonauts is hard with keyboard and you need to buy gamepad... but most of games on the PC dont support gamepad.

these days consoles are more like a computer gaming system than ordinary gaming system... it can even update stuff online! however... people should have pc too for doing other stuff besides gaming but if you gonna make your computer as a gaming rig with not the top components... than you can forget about pc gaming rig! us eit for work, school etc.. instead! also in pc you will have to deal with sudden chunk of laggness and hiccups if you dont have the top of the top components.... but in consoles its a fixed performance! ofcourse it may have low frame rates but it wont have any sudden hiccup or any hard drive, ram performance lagg issue.

also game son the consoles like metal gear 4, final fantasy 13, Killzone 2 graphic is a real CG-like! unlike oblivion, titan quest, battlefield 2, two worlds etc.... unless Crysis comes out.

PC has high potential than consoles....PC is like King Koopa aka Bowser. In Mario kart he is slow at accelerating but has high top-speed and Consoles is like Mario.. faster at accelerating but has lower top-speed. PC it is customizable but most people never take their pc to the max! due to money problem.... consoles are better for the smart-value-decision.

consoels are alot confortable! no need to stick your face on the screen... sitting in your chair long period of time heart waiste and back no stretch.... but in consoles you can enjoy your game on a soft confortable couch! holding your confortably dual shock/sixaxis controller.... lay back on the couch.... confortably.....on a big wide screen 40 inch, 50 inch, 60 inch, 70 inch HD TV LCD.

But can you run 3dmark06 on your 360?

No!!!!

Also just think of the load times on these consoles. Oblivion was horrible about that on consoles. With PC you pop in a faster CPU, raid your drives and that load time problem goes away with the wind.

Hear hear

PC is a lot easier to use after using it for only a day. I can tell you I can play a 360 all day and never get used to it.

I put a new PC player on keyboard and mouse and within a few hours is very good at it.

You can't say that about consoles.

Prince of Persia I played that with a gamepad and keyboard and mouse.

I thought the keyboard and mouse was easier to use IMO.

The one thing that sets consoles and PC apart is the price and upgrades.

Not everyone can afford to game on PC, but for those that can't afford it would chose PC if they could at a fair price IMO.

Thats not entirely true. My friend has an Athlon XP 3000+, 1GB PC2100 ram and an X850 pro AGP. He plays Oblivion, F.E.A.R, Quake 4, Call of Duty 2, and Black and White 2 with no problems.

F.e.A.r runs 1024x768 high settings fine. Oblivion runs on medium/high fine. COD2 full settings. It's still a good midrange syste,

with soft shadows, aa and all that good stuff?

My friend had a hard time playing it totally maxed out at 1024 with 64 3200, 1 gig of ram, and a X1800XT 512.

It wasn't until he put 2 gigs in till it ran smooth for him.

I really believe in system ram. in my Belief... systam ram stable stuff and not shaky. vidoe cards boost up frame rates. For me.... 29fps on max settings is good and just add 4gig,8gig or 12gig ram to ensure that laggness wont exist. 29fps is not bad if no sudden laggness arise.

Actually I hear C&C 3 (the newest one) plays very well with a controller.. haven't tried this myself but a rts gamer I know who loves rts/computer and has an 360 aswell told me this.

All in all through a pc is more for the enthusiast, who wants better performance and a console is just plug and play built for noobs.

I never read the whole post but you can game with lower specs you still get to enjoy the gameplay even if you dont have all the eyecandy of new graphics.

edit: and 2600's/8600's mean you cant game? omg whos giving you this uber BullSh*t.. if you want to game with everything maxed you need to pay a bit more but a 2600xt would probably pwn ANY dx9 game and you dont need a quad core to game all theses newer games my e6300 I bought a year ago for $200 plows trough em.

I get what hes getting at now.. yes consoles are cheaper and easier to use.. lots of games for them because thats all they do.. thier cheaper because you just have to buy it once till the nexted gen of consoles come out therefore making it easier to upgrade.

Consoles are simple to use, and only need upgrading when the nexted generation of them come out.. games cost more for them though and a console falls quite a bit behind in graphics, 6 months or a year after thier released is my guess.

No, the soft shadows are off in Oblivion. Something else, the reason that oblvion and fear run so badly on the newer cards is because of the Shader Model 3.0. Without that, most games scream.
