Nvidia 8500/8600 Series Overclocking and Feedback thread

06 naturally, i think my scores are actually decently high up for this thread too.

i didn't saw it was sli
pretty good scores :)

cheers :D, it took butloads of tweaking and eventually my own modded bios to get it working sweet

revised single card score is 6939 06'3dmarks

@ core:729 shader:1912 mem:1900

3d mark 03 saw 21,219 points for a single card

so thats 6939 in 06'
and its 21,219 in 03'

both single card (second one is being fixed as we speak)
any chance of being placed on the scoreboard or will i need screenies to back it up...

sof ar the only cards beating me are GTS's and not by much at all, in fact im beating a GTS i think, and all the other GT's

That's pretty good.

Mine: 8600GTS 783/1836/1098, P4D @ 4Ghz (250Mhz), nVidia 169.25 WHQL.

3DMark06: 6146
3DMark05: 10156
3DMark03: 20680
3DMark01: 22181 (?)

Haven't maxed the card, but I'll need some Core 2 action to make any significant difference.

Yup.

891/1890/1098 = 6215 in 3DMark06.

new 06 score! 5777 lol

found a way to get alot more out of my card...gonna be doing more testing over the next few days and I'm gonna make it to 6000!! :rockout:

core 2 duo at 3.20ghz is whats boosting my score, what im interested in is a volt mod, cos now my core/shader ratio is higher, around 2.6 so if i can get my core to around or over 800mhz, that would be 2.0ghz + on the shaders, i think with a tweaked shader ratio and the vmod this card could see 7500+ o6' 3dmarks.....so all i need is a multimeter now.

gpuz.8600gtbmod.bmp

a screenie of gpuz and my custom bios, i love the simplicity of your own bios, then you dont need apps to o/c anymore, you need them in the beginning to see whats stable then flash it on and bam. theres about the same difference between my this card/bios and a stock 8600gts, as a 8600gt is to a gts.

8600GT - 8600GTS - ...."8600GTX" :D (see it in the screenie of gpuz :P)

XFX 8600 GT Extreme ZM 600M SLi

wrote my own bios as following: Core: 700 Shader: 1836 Memory: 1800

much better performance than stock shader multi at 750 core, which was 750/1540, it seems the shaders make a huge difference.

im planning a vmod very soon to get 800+ on the core and 2ghz+ on the shaders

scores 10,775 06' 3dmarks in SLi, 6,682 in sinlge card mode, and 320fps in Lightsmark2007

pics to back up 3dmark scores if u want em.

my mods got my 810/1050/1784 or something its as far as riva tuner allows look aty my gpu-z link in my sig.

what mods did you do exactly ^^ solaris, as i said im keen to push 800 core and 2ghz shaders, then these cards will really fly

ya they will i did the bios mod i adjusted the timings and i increased the voltage the pencil trick will get you 1.4~1.5 depending on how good and thick you put it and i have 2.4 on the mem...

well i got an 8800GT 2 days ago so im really into that atm, but in a few days when i get back onto the 8600GT on my second monitor, ill have to try that pencil mod and push 800 core....i can feel it.....it wants to go 800.....

o and it will im waiting for my resistors..with the pencil trick and the resistors soldered in place and an adjustment of cooling youll break 1ghz core.

i am so in for that, ill start with the pencil and wait for pics of how you do the resistors :P

800 core here i come, oh and the 8600gt's are done by xfx and came with zalman vf700's i believe, so not much need for more cooling there at all.

The maximum stable overclock I've gotten out of my 8600GTS is 850/1150 Core/Memory.
The card has been voltage modded, but not to the point of adding resistors or anything... mostly just little workarounds here and there.

It scored 6999 on 3DMark06.

heres an official pic of my wikid 8600GT 3dmark score, can i be put on the scoreboard now plz ??? :P

as of yet its definatly one of the best 8600GT scores ive ever seen, especially for stock volts all around, proud to have it. :D

Ah yes, screen capture goodness

Word of mouth isn't taken well in these parts is it? So be it, add me to my rightful place in the list S.V.P.

Let me know if you need anything more to add me to my place on the list =D

i got a replacement 8600GT today, they were kind enough to replace my extreme 600m edition with the XXX 680m, however it doesnt seem to clock as high....

stock extreme: 600/1310/1500
stock xxx : 680/1360/1600

so stock for stock its faster, but i had the extreme @ 700/1836/1800

this card isnt stable at 700 core, it isnt stable at 1836 shaders, i guess im just a little dissapointed...

any thoughts solaris?

perhaps voltage modification or a cooling prob not with the core but make sure your ram and the mosfets on the back of the board arent getting to hot if they are see if you can put a little fan someware blowing on them.

ok ive got the xxx @ 720/1728/1700 ..... still not where i had my 2 lower clocked cards @ ...

oh and solaris, do you think you can track down a trustworthy vmod guide on the 8600GT's from XFX, they dont use a reference board, i think theirs is unique

ok solaris i need help, i was flashing my 8600gt with a higher clocked duplicate bios, and for some reason now it thinks its a 8600M gts and errors a bunch, and when i try to flash it back to original bios its says theres no adapter found or maybe its no matching adapter....wtf, how can i force a flash?

first go into yout bios...make sure that in nibitor the name of the card is 8600GT or w/e by your company...then type the following while trying to flahs...

nvflash -4 -5 -6 orig.rom that includes tehf orce command try that or try
nvflash -4 -5 -6 -y orig.rom
