NVIDIA Ansel Post-FX Based on Stolen MasterEffect ReShade.fx Code?

Nvidia agreed to credit him only after he 'whined' and this became a news. Such whining is important to keep corporations in check. The 'drama queens' did their job well and I'm thankful to them.

I still find it ironic that an entity called "Marty McFly Modding" was upset about someone else using some of their ideas. You know, since "Marty McFly Modding" has never used anyone else's idea in a name or brand or anything.

I wouldn't call it whining. He wanted to reach out to nVidia about the issue, but without a way to do it privately his only option was a public post to get their attention. He admitted that someone posted it on reddit in an likely attempt to make a bigger deal out of it than he intended it to be(and sure enough that is what happened).

In the end, he got what he wanted, credit for his work. That's good, but it didn't need to be the shitstorm it turned into, that was really pretty stupid on most people's parts.

The only thing I wouldn't completely agree about is that Ansel is not commercial product. It does help to sell nvidia hardware.

Withholding judgement until we have more than one guy claiming he invented it first. I want to see all the evidence first. I find it amazing people immediately assume NVIDIA is guilty.

The history of news is full of individuals who make wild claims about corporations or accuse someone famous of a crime against them, and then we find out the truth was the little person just wanted fame/notoreity and money.

This isn't just some guy, this dude is the king of all pc visual enhancement modding. Everyone uses his software. It's unique. If he makes such a massive claim i would bet money on it being true.

It really doesn't matter at this point. As I said later in the thread, I merely said withhold judgement until either Nvidia is found to be at fault, or they admit it.

And now go to the other thread from the next day in which Nvidia admitted they effed up, and see what I said.

For the record, if this guy was the king of pc modding, I think I would have heard about him in the realm of the major.gaming mod site I frequent.

All those post processing mods are all basically same injectors that take frame buffer and run it through shader and re-texture it on a full screen polygon (quad) - classic post processing - all the effects are actually also same shaders written in HLSL that have been circling around ... I wouldn't say a king, just a dude that came up with a catchier name than SweetFX

... barley related ... I realized that nvidia will let us stick a full tesla p100 (HBM and all) into pcie slot

there are all kinds of shenanigans happening at nvidia

Point simple, if you take any code, give the guy some credits. But proberly some dev at Nvidia simply copy'd paste some code and branded it as Nvidia property.

That PCI-express card is for servers btw. There is no chance consumers will have such beef cooling inside their case.

Yeah ... still, I expect someone will do some crazy experiments with a custom water block and modded drivers ... oh wait, these don't have any video outputs :ohwell:
oh well, at least some crunching records
