Absolutely. No new DX feature was ever playable on first-gen hardware. This is just for early adopters and developers for the time being.
Keyword: developers. Its all about that, 1 or 2 years ahead of AMD is worth a lot of money.

Hey, don't look at me. I almost caved and bought a 2060. Keyword: almost ;)

No, I'll tell you what's crazy.

Crazy is not selling a GPU that has two chips in it:

Chip 1) Full reticle limit chip with gaming tech inside only. Nothing useless for gamers.
Chip 2) Full reticle limit ray tracing chip. Not goofy Tensor nonsense but the most efficient possible realtime raytracing hardware.

Add to that 32 GB of HBM 2 and PCI-e 4.

Call it the Nvidia Super Duper Future Proofer and charge $25,000 for it.

When you've got 4.6 billion dollars it's a doddle.

Just make 4 chips for R/G/B/Y with something like X many pixels of that color they display each and let a I/O manage them and turn on or off portions of those chips. SLI/Crossfire is too developer dependent let the hardware just calculate how many colors of a particular type are required. GPU compression kinda does things modestly akin to it on that end to save on bandwidth, but the hardware itself should probably power down more of it's unneeded logic in the first place to be more powerful while also not turning into a space heater at the same time. Also put the compression on it's own chip or on the I/O hub itself.

I think crazier than that is having only limited amount of games that supports "playable" frame rates when that feature is enabled. Also, so far the quality over normal rendering is mediocre to say the least, with half the fps cost....
