If I have listened to him then I would have been broke a long time ago, buying always the midrange gpu gave me the ability to keep buying other midrange parts.

I say pushing partial raytracing without 60+ fps even in 1080p IS crazy. But hey, for them "IT JUST WORKS"

Partial because no game use reflections, shadows, translucency, and lighting raytracing at once. Most of them is just either it for lighting or reflections that are not even accurate.
I recommend interested people to watch A Hands-on Look at Using Ray Tracing in Games..

Ray tracing is the next greatest leap in graphical fidelity in games, but we are just not there yet. We need much stronger hardware to use real ray tracing.

amd is keeping tight lipped about its own ray tracing tech... could be just waiting to be enabled at a later stage we dont know,
lets hope thats the case and the performance tax is around 10% ~ 15% that would be pretty neat.

What is the point to future proof your system, just buy 1650 and wait for price drops, you can proof it when the future comes, and it will be much cheaper then. I mean he already punished me for buyin 2070 early at $250 higher price, first with 2060 then with 2060S that offer same performance +-. The punishment doesnt stop there, it will be the same for 2070S. Yeah im future proof to be playing slideshow for the next 4 years, way to go CEO.

GTX1650 is terrible value for money. Would rather buy an RX 570 4G model any day of the week.

Well yeah until games does not mandate RT hardware for lightning or it won't even run, theres nothing wrong buying graphics card without DXR.

Sure maybe in 2 to 3 years from now there could be some AAA game that won't even start without dxr, but current RTX cards might run it with dxr set to very low.

Problem is that right now, in most of the case scenario, the majority won't even notice if RTX is ON or OFF...

Well, Mr Huang, buying a GPU without RTRT also means buying a GPU for less than $400. How much of your sales are coming from that segment? :p

Funny, I saw all those RTX demos and was not impressed.

I was even less impressed by the RTX series price tags...

not really, when you're the only flagship GPU manufacturer on the planet..
you can charge whatever you want...and its selling and nobody can do a damn about it other can just commenting it on tech forums.

When nvidia started Gsync..then cameby adaptive sync in the form of freesync
when they start RTX, eventually everybody else will join the bandwagon soon(AMD,PS5,Xbox2...etc).
if only amd started RTX..nobody would have even known if it existed..
everybody must be thank nvidia is taking a lead in PC gaming..and bring next gen technology even though its only in early stages..
soon RTX will become more mature and will run even on rtx 2060 and next gen nvidia 7nm will be good at it.

in the coming years...All AAA titles would have RTX in PC gaming .

Well, actually amd had raytracing library in 2016: radeon rays. So yes, they had it working and ready, i assume they are not as delusional as nvidia is and they are aware hardware of both companies is not powerful enough and that is the reason why they were not marketing all over the place.

I think people stopped listening to Jensen Huang's advice after this:
Ironically these words make some sense and definitely way more than what he said today. "The more you buy, the more you save" in perfect world would make sense and it makes sense there were multigpu is scaling properly. If you buy 4 cards and multigpu configuration scales accordingly over single card then yes, you bought more, you have more performance for many years, you do not have to buy new gpus for next decade but in reality it doesn't work like this and we all know how multigpu configs work.

RT libraries have been around since the 80 (I think). The novelty here is the real-time nature ;)
It's been coming for decades and now you can feel it's just around the corner ;)

It is just around the corner... the corner few crossings away. There would have to happen gigantic leap in gpus performance for gpus being capable of rendering "standard" 3d image and raytracing at the same time. IMO the only chance for such leap would be when switching to quantum computing for masses, with current x86 architecture we will be unable to do it.

Nvidia your gpu is not powerful enough to run Ray tracing, what are you talking, look at the price tag and what you offer us!
Rtx on + 1080p + £1500gpu = hardly can reach 60 fps

How many modern games nowaday support rtx? Tom raider and quake2, ohh wait minecraft..

If it wasn't for his undeniable financial achievements he would be a joke of a CEO, his behavior is fairly predictable thought much like that of a child that does not get his way. This gaslighting tactic of his of telling consumers/investor/partners that they are the crazy ones is old and dates way back. Here's a video of our boy Jensen basically telling the OEMs and consumers that they are not really responsible for those crappy overheating mobile chips they made back in 2008 that were dropping like flies but instead everyone should be thankful that they pay attention to these issues anyway.

In all honesty, how the hell he got where he is now, beats me.

Running your stock down from $292.76 to $159.56 is crazy. Crazy poor management, product management, and execution. Total failure over the last year. And yes that is from an NVIDIA fanboy who only buys NVIDIA cards.

Because of Moore's Law and fiat currencies controlling inflation, that's not true either. $4000 spent on graphics cards at once will not outperform $1000 spent each year on new top-shelf hardware. That's why high performance computing is always swapping out old hardware for new: more performance per watt.

Please don't hold your breath waiting for quantum computing to reach the masses.

And x86 has nothing to do with graphics performance. I think you mean "classical” computing vs quantum, but quantum computing is not going to be something that the general public uses.
