Thank you for your continued help. I have reached out to CyberPower and will download Furmark and give that a go. Thank you again so far, much gratefulness!
Good luck - let us know how you get on. As it's a CyberPower pre-built then it should be covered under warranty and as much as it's admirable to troubleshoot it yourself - you did pay a premium to CyberPower for the warranty and support compared to buying the parts and assembling it yourself - so you might as well take advantage of that, and you don't want to risk invalidating that warranty by messing around too much with it yourself.

Doing the Furmark "Burn In" is that the correct test? Been going for 7 minutes no issues, GPU temp at 74% - avg 172 FPS

So I have been running the Furmark "Burn In" for 13 minutes, zero issues, 172 avg FPS, GPU temp 75. Is this the right test? Does it ever stop? Should I stop and run a different Furmark?

30 minutes, 77 temp, still 172 FPS

What does this mean? It looks good?

30 minutes Furmark GPU burn-in stable is proof that your GPU isn't defective at least, but in isolation it doesn't do much. Furmark is really just used to hit your TDP with a constant/stable 100% load and from what you said, it only crashes when the total system power gets too high - so you need a combined CPU+GPU load, not just a GPU-only load.

You can run these two concurrently:

1708988445770.png

With a 5700X you want to set the CPU burner to 15 threads, not 16 - because you'll need to leave a little bit of CPU headroom just to run the GPU stress test effectively.

That's the GPU-only test by the looks of things. You can run these two concurrently:

OK will do, also downloading Forza Horizon 5 as Google says its one of the more graphic intensive games on GamePass, I intend to try and max out and run and send my results as well.

4 minutes in running both, cant see what CPU Burner is doing because Stress is full screen. I didn't change threads because didn't know how, just clicked run on both. 6 mins in - AVG FPS - 115 : TEMP 71

Just restarted, changed to 15, biggest issue I see outside of the test, Temp at 95, guessing this is CPU, because test says GPU at 76. Pic attached.

95C is too hot for a 65W chip that has PBO disabled. Not that I've seen hot chips cause crashing but I guess I can't claim to have seen everything.

What's the cooler CyberPower used - is it the Wraith Stealth?

1708991693522.png

It's "the bare minimum" for a 65W CPU (actually 88W peak consumption due to confusing "TDP vs PPT" metrics) - but even that wimpy cooler typically keeps temperatures in check for 88W, it just tends to get loud.

Just so I have this clear, this is the summary so far, right?
  • Unreal games - fail, crash frequently
  • Other games - pass, crash infrequently
  • OCCT CPU tests - pass, no crash
  • OCCT power test - fail, crash
  • Furmark GPU-only - pass, no crash
  • Furmark GPU+CPU - pass, very hot 95C

Yes your summary sounds correct, and the software I was using for the 95C is legit and accurate?

How do I find out the cooler model?

Also, if everyone is thinking the PSU is the issue, even with overheating on a few of the tests?

Would a new appropriate PSU fix the overheating too?

So i just crashed a couple minutes in to Nightingale, pics show Ryzen monitoring at time of crash, anomaly is volt at 1.35 of 1.35, can I amp this up or down? How?

And 2nd pic is error that comes up.

So my Forza 5 download just finished and I ran a benchmark, see pic.

What does this mean, I guarantee I can sit and play this game for hours with no crash but have no interest. What's with unoptimized or optimized Unreall games?

While playing the game at ultra settings I got these Ryzen readings. Alt-TAB into Chrome, zero issue, sent screenshot, Alt-TAB back in zero issue seamless playing....

What is the deal?

Ryzen Master should be accurate enough in terms of temperatures. Nothing using on-board sensors is ever going to be 100% accurate but it's close enough.
If you post a decent, in-focus photo of the inside of the case with the side panel off, I'm pretty sure people here can identify the cooler.

A new PSU definitely won't solve the overheating; That's an issue with the CPU cooler, or possibly the motherboard BIOS having an issue with the 5700X. You *can* manually adjust the voltages yourself but it 100% shouldn't be necessary for any CPU running at stock settings with DOCP/XPM disabled. If you update the BIOS on your motherboard, there's a slim chance that a newer BIOS fixes the high voltages and it doesn't cost you anything to try. There have been some BIOS releases on AM4 that apply too much voltage which is a significant cause of high temperatures at lower TDPs.

I mostly build workstations and when I get the occasional CPU behaving with marginal stability I don't try to tweak it with voltages to get stability back because CPUs do degrade very slowly over time and that instability will likely return a few weeks/months later. I always take advantage of the warranty whilst it's still in effect.

The PSU is a strong suspect just because it doesn't appear to be a legit EVGA model, and weird, hard-to-nail-down crashes are so often the result of cheap, inadequate PSUs - but without swapping parts (ruling out components one at a time by swapping out for known-good parts) we're probably left at guessing, so unless you have spare PSU/cooler lying around this is the point you take a backup copy of your personal files and prepare to RMA through CyberPower. Your PSU may even be genuine EVGA - but just something obscure and unlisted. Contacting EVGA with your concerns is one option, you can always link them to this forum thread.

Your CPU is definitely too hot, so updating the BIOS to the latest version and checking on the CPU cooler are a priority.
Your PSU is an unknown, I would wait on CyberPower to respond, and like I said - you could email EVGA with your model/serial number to see if they can confirm its authenticity.

Does she use Discord and if so does she have overlay on?

Also, get us a picture showing insides of the PC as well as the case itself. If that Ryzen 5700 is reaching 95C in any test then there's something wrong.

Hello.
Lately, Unreal Engine launcher had some problems.
In some cases after the launcher started , after some times it crashed or in other cases in the middle of the game you were playing.
Well that was not about your card, it was related to them.
I updated Epic Launcher as they suggested (i did it yesterday after 3 weeks of nightmares) and the problem is gone now.
This was my case and i own a system with RED force in it (AMD).

Here is the article from Epic Games how to solve the crash-es :

If I were to buy a new PSU how can I figure out the best one that will give MAX allowed power on the rig annnnnnd 2... How hard is it to swap a PSU?

And is anyone able to explain, if there are hardware issues, unbeknownst to the benchmark software and stress test software I am using. How can I still run FORZA 5 on ULTRA for an hour with no issues, crashes, temps, etc? I Can't get past that when weighing in on sinking money into this comp.

Updated EPIC, guess it was way out of date but that didn't fix. Re-verified all Unreal engine builds, two 5.x and two 4.x

Nada, same crashes...

And you say that your problems start only when you work with Unreal Engine?
Maybe it is not related to your setup, rather then to the software platform itself.
As i did, i read many forums for hours and hours, until Epic decided to release a "f*cking" update that magically solved peoples problems.
So not all the time, the solution is on your side.

Dude, you've already isolated your problem. There's no need to do further troubleshooting without first attempting to fix the issue you've found.
But when I run the "Power" test it sends my temps through the roof immediately and shuts down after a minute
The OCCT power test is designed to stress your cooling and PSU, it failed both.

Replace your PSU with a known good model, and see what you can do to improve temperatures (airflow, cleaning, maybe reduce boost clocks).

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.

Swapping a PSU can be pretty involved if you're new to PC-building as there are several chunky, stiff cables that need both force to insert properly, but also care not to bend/crack the things you're plugging the cables into. If the machine has been cable-managed properly it will also involve cutting zip ties and carefully untangling the PSU cables from the fan cables and buttons/ports of the case.

Did you get anywhere with CyberPower or EVGA regarding the PSU and whether the machine is still under warranty with CyberPower?

People here are likely to be able to guide you through a PSU swap and CPU cooler swap but we haven't had any new info about the PSU or CPU since the weekend so we've got nothing new to go on. A photo from the side of the PC showing the motherboard, processor cooler, graphics card, and general condition would be useful I think - just to rule out anything obvious in the build. I saw you ran the OCCT memory benchmark but we haven't completely ruled out the RAM yet either - there are stability tests and you should run the memory one when you get half an hour of spare time:

As for the hardware issues only manifesting in some cases - FORZA 5 will only use a few of your CPU cores, the CPU will never be under 100% load, just like many other games. Until you can pass a CPU/Power stress test reliably, your system is classified as "unstable" and you should expect crashes, which is why you want to sort out the CPU cooling and possibly the power supply depending on what Cyberpower/EVGA say about your 800GD model.

@HumongousGigantic I would hold off swapping your psu for the moment. Fix the cooling issue's first. This is why i say this: if the rig is getting that hot its going to suck up more wattage from the psu to try and maintain a stable continuous voltage, which will end up making more heat until either the psu cuts the load to save everything and itself or the mobo does. Remember, alot of this heat is dumping into the case itself and heating up other components also, maybe not to a huge degree but enough collectively to make another issue worse, like the one your having.
You gotta clean the fans also, the edges of the blades cause they will stack dust there after awhile. DO NOT let the fan blades turn while cleaning them, i mean spin fast, cause if you spin them backwards they will generate a charge and fry things. The psu is probably fine.

Overheating whilst undesirable, it should never be the sole cause of instability, if a hot system gets unstable, it means either a component isnt working properly or something like a PSU is under spec'd (as power drives heat).

Both GPUs and CPUs are e.g. designed to throttle themselves at manufacturer defined limits and still run stable at these max limits.

I basically dont see a way out of this without either swapping out components (which the OP really seems against doing) or just sending the system back to the seller and telling them its not stable, leaving them to deal with it.

The OP is very fortunate there is two systems, so swapping GPU super easy, RAM is a bios change (very unlikely to be unstable at jedec).

GPUs are one of the easiest components to swap, that could have been done very quickly, likewise resetting the RAM to jedec also would have been super quick. PSU's are more of a pain, and I wouldnt go down that route until RAM and GPU are ruled out. But if heat is causing instability, it means some other component is the root cause.

Cooling or PSU was my first guess after reading OP's post. I agree before spending money on a PSU fix your cooling problems. Get a decent HSF on the cpu. You should never see 95c... not gaming...

Reading and waiting on your results with interest. Good luck, just have a bit of confidence and if you live in the uk near south yorks Id be happy to help. Otherwise we here in this forum can help you get it working perfectly.

Ah, it's an AIO liquid cooler.
I'm going to bet that either the pump isn't running, it's not mounted correctly, or the "peel before use" sticker is still on the coldplate.

This is the user/installation manual. If you don't fancy sending it back to Cyberpower, you should check what you have matches the installation guide for AM4:

You should be able to feel/hear if the pump is running - but trace the pump back to the fan header on the board from your last photo and then see what RPM the pump is running at in OCCT's monitoring page.
AIO pumps should be connected to dedicated pump headers on the board if the board has one, otherwise they should be configured to run at 75-100% speed in the motherboard's fan speed control page, with the appropriate settings for PWM (4-pin) or DC (3-pin) set.

This is what OCCT shows me, does that show the AIO and pump info you wanted?

Abbreviating numerous times you've stated concerns this is a counterfeit.

BB and all their vendors, buyers, etc on down the line do not produce or sell products you can buy anywhere else. Kitchen appliances, accessory electronic cords, tv, computer, even Apple products are... it is all SKU specific to their line of stores. Internet searches on manufacturer pages will turn up less than nothing. Pause for a moment and reflect upon why BB was specifically called out in legislature on e-waste recycling. Mandatory free e-waste recycling at their stores.

First place I would start making corrections would be looking for evidence an alternative BIOS to replace compromised prebuilt OEM one with retail model is possible. This is a BIOS restriction followed by made to order SKU with likely lower quality expectations enforced by BIOS to make stability the only outcome.

Barring some highly rewarding outcome with provable results. Throwing new parts at a prebuilt is a fools errand. Sell it and get something capable or accept the realities of ownership without incurring higher expense for selfsame results.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, you sound like you have some background in this. Can you help me let you know what BIOS I am running and you tell me if there is a better one I should install? That would be very helpful.

I don't want to create a false dialogue or expectations. We try to help, politely help.

You are asking more than this PC wants to provide and I feel there is reason to believe no parts replacement short of the motherboard will have the desired outcome. BIOS tied to this motherboard is very quietly conservative right up until you attempt getting forceful in attempts to make it work harder. System level development tying all these prebuilt parts together is very very deeply embedded.

In very basic terms - you bought a complete system and it should be respected as such. RAM or hard drive size upgrade, all good. System parts, historically a very low percentage of good outcomes. BIOS replacement was red herring to get your awareness how deeply tied together performance is with this exact set of parts. That very directly includes the RTX3070 shipped with this prebuilt. If the pump on your AIO is faulty it should be replaced. This may produce acceptable results contrasting with the harder line alternative thinking I'm trying to display. This is not a case of all good and all bad or right and wrong. Warranty parts should be excluded from my statement. The system should be working properly in order to be assessed.

Your use case is more suited to a build completed with intelligent selection of off the shelf parts. Watching for deals and putting it together on your own will remove (Intel is currently less finicky) a wide range of issues you are facing. Plug and play for many years with only OS updates or game bugs interfering.

I just re-ran OCCT Power test with zero crashes, screenshots included... what does this mean?

Re-running the OCCT power test with Fur Mark CPU burner active. Still running fine.

It holds steady temps on 16 cores for CPU Burner but when I switch to 15 cores The temp rises about 1 degree every 30 seconds, now it is at 82 C. Still running 4 mins in, no issues, but hotter on 15 cores not 16.

So I just tried to play Nightingale 4 times, 3 crashing right at start screen, once when I went into settings right from start screen. Then on Afterburner I just turned the core nad memory clocks as low as possible and applied.

Booted up the game and got in, playing flawless for about 10 minutes. Esc, try to go to settings, noise, crash.

Any creative insight?
