NVidia GT 525 M not working

Hello,

The video card on my Laptop (Dell Inspiron N7110) is not working anymore.
Here is the GPU-Z Analyse: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/details/mfg7c/
Sensors are not indicating anything.
In Windows 10 the device returns the error code 43. Reinstalling the drivers did not help.

My question: could a VBIOS rewrite / flash repair the card or it is gone forever?

That flashing is very hard to do with a laptop IIRC there is no separate Vbios in a laptop...

I think it's a goner...

Judging from DELL's support site you have an Optimus rig.
Try to install Intel GFX driver first. For your old Sandybridge it's only available via Windows update

Does Optimus even work with Windows 10 on a laptop that old?
W10 may have borked it, was it working previously, did drivers update by themself?
Personally I would have kept it a W7 machine and used legacy drivers that worked best for that card.

Thanks for the input.

The story is a bit longer:

- I installed windows 10 last year, it worked ok

- the laptop got a new motherboard a few months ago, the new motherboard was not 100% identical to the old one. One code was identical (9nwtg), the second one had differences (old = DAV03AMB8E0, new = DAV03AMB8E1)

- i did not reinstall win 10 after I got the laptop from service

- I play SC2, graphic options set to low

- on the day of the crash, I noticed that the game started with graphic options set to high, i tried to change it in the game - it seemed to accept it, but after 20-30 seconds the laptop did not react anymore. Pressing the power down did not turn it off, i had to remove the battery

- after restarting the boot screen (windows) was visible, but the logon screen did not show anymore, only the mouse cursor was active.

- after i got into safe mode, i noticed that a new driver for Nvidia was installed on that day (15.11.2016 , driver 375.86)

- I installed older versions of the Nvidia driver, it did not help. I did not reinstall any other types of drivers

- the laptop uses now the intel video card, i can still play SC2

- bios tests run ok, they do not find any problems (what is actually being tested - the intel gpu or the nvidia gpu ?)

- if there is no separate vbios, how can the normal bios still be ok while the bios of the video card was fried?

Why are you so sure the bios has anything to do with this?

My guess is heat physically fried your GPU... not unheard of in poorly vented laptops, unfortunately.

There's your problem right there. It's a borked driver install on what looks like W7 or W8.1. Uninstall the driver and reinstall it. I recommend using a driver cleaner after uninstallation. I forget the name of the one that everybody uses on TPU - remind me, people.

I'll bet after reinstall it works ok.

If Windows 10 is being problematic with your laptop graphics card, I think you should just have sticked with Windows 7. You can visit a computer repair shop to backup your files and put them somewhere, like a flash stick if you're concerned about your files.
