NVIDIA is readying its GeForce RTX 30-series "Ampere" mobile GPUs for the first half of 2021, reports WCCFTech, citing a leaked company slide detailing the upcoming mGPU product stack. The slide mentions a January 2021 launch for the RTX 3080 Mobile and RTX 3070 Mobile, followed by an RTX 3060 Mobile launch later. The same product stack slide compares performance of these parts to desktop RTX 20-series GPUs, with the RTX 3080 Mobile being compared to desktop RTX 2080 Super (or roughly desktop RTX 3060 Ti performance), while the RTX 3070 Mobile is shown offering performance roughly comparable to desktop RTX 2070 Super or RTX 2070. The RTX 3060 Mobile offers roughly desktop RTX 2070 / RTX 2060 performance.

Die that are binned for low leakage (also low clock speed) couple with Low Power GDDR6 and efficient VRM design. All of these combined allow the mobile part to have around 2/3 the performance of the desktop part while consume 1/3 the power.
My laptop with 2070 Super Max-Q 80W is a good example of that.

Pretty sure that slide is not a performance comparison, much less with desktop counterparts. This is price segment comparison with current generation.

With some undervolting you can shave 100W off a 3080 while maintaining 90-95% of performance. Ampere at stock is operating way above its sweet spot.

The performance will only be comparable to desktop counterparts if they can avoid throttling, which I doubt.

Benchmark Scores Don't do them anymore.
Mobile 3080 paired with a Ryzen 7 5800H or whatever AMD calls it would be perfect, hope AMD based laptops don't get capped at the 3060 level, I wouldn't mind an Intel based laptop but I ain't paying more for similar or less performance.

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.
Remember that "as fast as 2080s" claim is coming from the source that claimed 3080 is two times faster than 2080:

I get that you want to be skeptical but 3070 is roughly as fast as 2080Ti, so 3060Ti on the same GPU die at ~20% slower (taking into account both less shaders and slightly slower clocks) will be pretty much on par with 2080 Super.

Yeah and 3070 is not full fat die either...

Oh great, now we can have better options with the RDNA2 series in laptops. I don't know if Nvidia or Intel is pushing for this but OEM's better not gimp an all AMD system :shadedshu:

Yeah and 3070 is not full fat die either...

Who cares tho?

3070 beats 2080 Ti by 1% at 1440p which is the target res for this card, way too fast for 1080p (unless 240-360 Hz maybe) and not a true 4K capable card (for long).

3060 Ti will be 12-15% slower than 3070

I don't expect 3060 Ti to beat 2080 Super out of the gate (but close), in a few months when Ampere is tweaked and optimized even more, it will be for sure

When you see big AAA games in 2021 getting benchmarked, 3060 Ti will beat 2080 Super for sure, just like 3070 will beat 2080 Ti

Newest arch gets priority when it comes to tweaking and optimizing, always

Last gen arch gets it later, older arch's might or might not get any focus, depends on how different it is

Waiting for Lenovo Slim 7 with Ryzen 7 5000 & RTX 3060.

Thought, the current Slim 7 with Ryzen 7 4800H & RTX 2060 is still not available anywhere even though it was supposed to be released in October.
