NVIDIA today released a new BETA version of its GeForce driver suite. What makes the new GeForce 285.38 BETA important is its timing, and what it brings to the table. Recently, EA/DICE released an open-beta of the highly anticipated AAA title, Battlefield 3, and gamers are already sharpening their skills ahead of its market release.

The new GeForce BETA drivers are said to increase performance of Battlefield 3 beta by up to 38%, add SLI profiles for the game, and add several stability fixes and image-quality improvements for the game. In essence, Battlefield 3 beta is at the center of GeForce 285.38 BETA. Apart from Battlefield 3, the drivers add SLI profiles for Dead Island, Diablo III, Dragon Age 2, Need for Speed: The Run, and Saints Row: The Third; and fix a stability issue with Crysis 2 (DirectX 9).

Nice! I hope ATI follows suit!

I will maybe try it but I am not sure if the performance improvements is for every supported Nvidia video card and only that game.

wait, dragon age II and dead island didnt have SLI support til now?

I thought the open Beta was due to be released on the 29th

Bta, 285.27 or something like that adds 5% increase in Crysis 2 DX11; this 285.38 supposed to improve it even slightly more, or does it? You TPU staff have long-lasting grudge gainst this app (Crysis 2) in DX11 or just not certain whether to use it or not? :) If there's support for full game & demo of Battlefield 3 (if there is a BF3 demo) i might DL this driver along with said demo. :toast:

you get it 48hrs early if you pre-ordered on some sites. That makes it the 27th!! I guess that is in 2 days for the USA.

All games/applications have SLI support from launch ... if you use Nvidia Inspector, that is.

Tomorrow! I'm stoked!

You mean the early access promised to the unlucky fellas who bought Medal of Honour limited editions ? Should that be called open beta ?

Everyone that bought MoH or preordered BF3 via Origin. It's still a closed beta until the 29th though.

Dragon Age II has been supported since a few days after release, dunno about Dead Island since I don't have that game. I'm guessing that Nvidia just increased SLI performance on these games with this new driver, and they just posted some poorly redacted release notes...

Why do you say "unlucky" MOH was a good game.

You never fail to make me laugh, TMM :)

Yet another sign of the BF3 beta, can't wait!

Wait, what.....

BF3 isn't out here (UK) till the 28th October.....

I bought MoH limited edition way back. I have a wee sticker on my box that says invite enclosed...

I feel sadly left out of the party.

Although the title is confusing, this driver is for the BETA of BF3.

Beta is out tomorrow.

Yes and as a fan of the BF series, I'm not sure whether to be worried to see how much they have codified it, or turned it into an addictive beast.

I know. I haven't had my invite yet.

S'alright - all understood now. 2 day early beta play. I'll get the open beta on the 29th either way.

the open beta will only involve a single map like alpha right? if not the exact same as alpha with some bug fixes..?

Nice, nvidia driver support, or at least frequency of updates, is top notch...

Same map as Alpha. Hopefully with improvements and ability to change controls and settings this time!

If we still can't customize controls I'm going to go ape shit.

Nope. Empire Total War didnt have any. Forcing it to AFR / Split Screen Rendering made it worse. The released profile it had, forced the game to run single GPU. Im quite sure there are others like that as well
