Hey I was wanting to start getting back into oblivion and wanted to to add some mods to clean it up a bit. Do you guys/gals know what the best are.

danke :D

Oh man, you can go mod crazy with this game.
Deadly reflex
illumination within
Reneers Guard Overhaul
Expanded Hotkeys and delete spells
Living Economy
Clocks of Cryodill
Natural Wildlife
Phinix immersive Dark UI
Natural Environments
Alternative Start

Those are the ones that I use and it changes the game ALOT.

The only mods I get are bodies and clothing. I'm not much into overhauling the graphics, extra stuff around town, etc.

But for bodies get Exnem's body for the females (i think it's called Female Eye Candy body or something like that) and the Male Body Replacer for the males.

What does natural environments do? I use a 2gig high res texture pack, some tiling fixes, real female mod, and the complete dremora mod.

It changes the environments drastically. Trees sway in the wind, birds chirp, animals don't automatically attack you, you can see the grass for a ways off, less pop in's, better weather, better water.

Hmm the game keeps crashing when I minimize it, winxp any ideas.

Does the same on my Vista rig and it did the same on my old XP install.

Hmm thats annoying to me since I IM and shit. I'l be back on later atm its time to sleep cheers for the help.

Oh and be sure to get the Oblivion Mod Manager, it helps a TON with sorting all these dang things.

JC any links to these things? Im downloading so its kinda hard to browse at oh say....dial up speeds rofl. (TPU is fast due to cache)

I use Deadly Reflexes and Oblivion Overhaul, which is pretty much exactly how I like it :)

What does Oblivion Overhaul do? Sounds good.

Obscuro's Oblivion Overhaul: linky :)

it's really good, check the FAQ for more info on what it does.
levelling changes, scaling stops, makes it more challenging etc :)

Gotta get the Stealth Overhaul too. That's one of my favorites :) Changes a lot of sneak attack damages, and gives you a chance to "ninja vanish" from guards if you get far enough away during combat. Also makes it so you're not instantly spotted when using a bow. Sneak attack now heavily favors light and quick weapons, instead of a single set of multipliers for all weapons. It also changes how armor effects your Sneak skill too. Heavier armor is harder to sneak in.

Xereau's Better Birthsigns 1.0 gives each Sign a set of spells that are actually VERY useful, as opposed to the crap the standard ones give you (which you still get anyways).

There's a couple little utility mods that I like to use as well...
Adventurers Spells - Adds Mark/Recall, Magical Storage, and Sleep. Very Handy.
Unlimited Rings 2.0 - Allows you more than two rings at a time (pick from 2, 5, 10, 20, and unlimited)
300ft crime detection - Makes guards more realistic, as in you commit a crime and they no longer swarm all over you from across the country side (default range is 10,000ft)
BadderFireFX, BadderFrostFX, BadderShockFX - Makes your spells actually look painful instead of irritating.
LifeDetectShader - Changes life detection from this glowy purple mist, into a pulsating red silhouette. MUCH Cooler and easier to look at. Uses less powah (= MOAR FPS)

Ah, yes he is right, I have this one too and it is GREAT.

I like the realistic guard one I have, makes it so if you break into someones house at night and kill them the guards wont come out of nowhere and go "I SAW WHAT YOU DID THROUGH THE WALLS LOL"

will have to hit these up.Speaker to black Panther about one, lost spires?

nom nom nom mmm breakfast :D anyway cheers for all the suggestions  going to install there ass but I want to get the crashing fixed ... mehh its driving me crazy, plus I want my old level of 89 or something like that.

QTP3 Redimized is better than the original QTP3. Same graphics less performance hit.
Also get Zacharot's LODs to get rid of the patterning of the terrain in the distance.

A very good quest mod is Lost Spires.

Wrye Bash!

It's a very complicated complier that modders use to create their packs. There's pretty specific instructions to use it for fixing all the broken stuff when using mods. You can also fix your characters, so they're no longer broken either.

Good luck with it though. It was too complicated for me. I just got rid of some stuff until the mods worked. :rockout:

I've been waiting for FCOM to release now for like a year, really annoying me, i kept telling my brother, dont play oblivion, FCOM will be out any day now!

Oblivion hates alt+tab lol

are you using Qarl's texture pack? That's pretty sweet, I was thinking of trying it but I really like the game how it already looks :p

I never could get Quarls texture pack to work right. It always had corrupted textures. I think it was conflicting with another mod that I had running.
