any special reason for the file format lockdown?

After reading the knowledge base article, it seems like they are doing to prevent people from opening files created by older Office programs(pre-97).

LOL!!!!! better call up Microsoft & have them put me in an order for Office 95

Time for an update on my end.

Ahhh looks like I'll be skipping this one. If it hits me by automatic updates I'll be pissed.

How is all this an improvement?

IMO I think M.Soft didnt have anything to do & it so was that they had to go through their list of 'supported' products & strike a few out

so they had a dabble at some classic time wasting...

Ive moved on from office 2003 long ago. probably just trying to save or scrape up some more revenue by forcing yout to buy newer/older products that support your file type.

they're still supporting Office 2003. I hate it when working on clients' computers using Office 2007. The layouts and the appearances on the 2007 are totally suck.

Who's still using 2003?

I'm using 2007, and I'm very happy with it.

takes a bit of getting used to but its ok.

Allot of people I know don't like the new GUI, however after I got used to it i like it a lot better. It "visually" makes more sense to me as far as feature placement.

shouldve been like this from teh beginning ...

I agree. It's far more intuitive to me. It has a Mac-like feel to it(which I'm quite used to. lol).

The new interface sucks in Office2007, much prefer Office2003 where I can easily access all the options commonly used, simplicity a step too far here...

Meh, I disagree. But it is "to each his own", when it comes to anything interface related.
