I got "Operating system not found" when boot up and I suspect the HD died. I entered bios and cant seem to see the HD. I will try if I can reinstall windows. If in case my HD dies, I can swap it with a SDD right?

Is there anything else I should try before reformat/buying a SDD?

Make sure it not a loose cable first

If the HDD is dead then yes go SSD for the OS that will be much faster

This issue happens, sometimes..

Go into BIOS & see if the drive is identified.. Boot from BIOS Screen, if you can..

Ok check the BIOS boot order and make sure HDD is first...if that was the issue but it recurs thats because the CMOS battery has died. Easy replacement...on a desktop anyway.
