I check techpowerup website everyday and you guys/gals give excellent opinion and have the latest and update information.
Now if you don't mind, what is your opinion before I make my order, keep in mind I might be OC in the future (within 2yrs) not right away and can't wait for the new 9900 gpu or the new Bloomfield.
My budget is respectfully good.

The components are:
Motherboard - EVGA 790i Ultra (132-CK-NF79-A1) (no way Asus striker II)
Processor – Intel QX9650 Extreme (important -> with box and original fan) (BX80569QX9650)
Video Card – EVGA 9800GTX (2 of them to be in sli) (512-P3-N871-AR) NOT KO OR SSC. (forget the 9800GX2, not with it)
Memory - Corsair XMS3 DHX TW3X4G1600C9DHX 4GB 2X2GB PC3-12800 DDR3- 1600 CL9-9-9-24 240PIN Memory Kit (TW3X4G1600C9DHX)
PSU –PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad (S75QB) (or what is you option?)
LCD – unknown, lack of knowledge here. (need help here. Approx. 20" widescreen (24" maybe in the future to be used as a TV too.) High res. and low ms. most likely a Samsung with no speakers. I like the Lenovo L220x willing to pay to future proof, hard to find in Canada.
Blu-Ray Writer - Sony (BWU200S) and another DVD burner.
Hard Drive - Main to be 150GB @ 10000RPM Ultra Speed Storage (with OS dual boot)
- WD 500GB (never had problems with WD, had problems with Maxtor thou.)
or
- Seagate Barracuda ES.2 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 32MB Cache NCQ Low Power Hard Drive 5YR MFR Warranty (not planning to go RAID now, never done it and worried to make a mistake, maybe in the future like about 2 years from now.)

Well that is all I can think of, let me know if I'm missing anything.
Oh ya, I already have a mouse, keyboard and high tower case. Speakers is the last thing, no worriers there.
Much appreciated with your help.

-only get sli if your gaming at 1900x1200 or higher. with that said get at least a 24". seems like you have enough money already.
-i wouldn't get a qx9650 when you can get a q9300 or e8500 for 1/3 of the price. the e8500 is even better than the qx9650 when it comes to gaming and overclocking.
-ddr3 is such a waste of money right now. spend less than half the price of ddr3 and get ddr2. which means no 790i

Stick with the 790i, so your gonna need ddr3 (it doesnt take ddr2).

R u getting a CPu cooler, the boxed one really is not up to scratch?

Yup, with ddr3 price being so high but I'm trying to future proof for about 5 years. My other computer already can't play Crysis, RB Las Vegas 2 or Assassin's Creed. Lately the computer technology been slow and not keeping up the game specs.
I've read the box cpu cooler is pretty good, I'm not dening you. I guess it's best to looking into a stock HSF. Any suggestions?
I guess need to do more research and same with Q9300. How about the Q9450? It's has a 12MB L2.
I've have heard OC the 790i had problems, so I hoping they would fix that.
-Did research and the problem are with the 680 mb, but now with bios update it's OK.
I'll keep you updated.

Maybe just a thought on the PSU stick with the TOP 3 Seasonic, Antec, Corsair. You want something proven to be reliable that uses TOP Quality capacitors. Also, people have a tendancy to buy overpowered PSU's for their system, A Corsair 620HX is modular and will be enough for your rig, BTW check out my system specs... I don't run SLI but I still have enough juice to(barely) off a 500watt PSU. Also that PSU has an 80mm fan, probably not too quite as compared to 120mm fan in Corsair 620HX. Try a PSU calculator out, bet that set-up doesn't draw more than 500Watts with everything running full loads.
EDIT: check this out http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine I have your set-up as posted OC'd to 4Gig running 1.34Vcore which it does as I did some research. 518watts with your CPU running a Burn, 540Watts at peak load (System start-up). Yes this is with DDR3 and all your drives and 2 9800GTX in SLI :) BTW I took the liberty of adding 3 120mm LED intake/exhaust fans and a 120mm high performance CPU Fan. This should translate into about 400watts give or take at idle.

Thank Smartbomb for the info. Forgotten all about the website.
Change of plan, I'm going to tone down my specs.
MB=EVGA 790i
CPU=Q9450
GPU=9800GTX (not SLI anymore, until/if I descide go to 24" > LCD. Otherwise not much use)
RAM=Corsair XMS3 (4GB) plan to go Vista 64.
PSU=Doing research. I've heard Seasonic is good, need to see what store carring them. So most likely down that road and 650w to be on the save side. (calculated approx. 538w will be needed, not all shown here)
HDD=WD 160GB SATA2 for OS and some other application. Will add another 500 when system is up and running OK.
LCD=Still not sure. 22" is a bit big. Looking at 20" Samsung SyncMaster 2043BW. I don't want any glossy LCD b/c there will be reflection off the screen.
My colour concept of my case (interior/exterior) is black and chrome. Polishing the grilles on my 830 Stacker and maybe chrome the wheels:laugh:
Thanks again

NP Drauk, glad I could help, 650W would put you on the safe side and give room for future expansion. :)
As far as LCD's go I have a Samsung 2253BW and would swear by it, fantastic gaming monitor @ 22" and it is the only monitor that doesn't strech 4:3 games... true 1:1. It is a great replacement for the 226BW which lots of people gave good reviews.

Make sure you get plenty of amps on the 12v rail, as it looks like you might go for tri-sli in the future. In fact, don't trust those calculators fully, and if your looking to make it last for more than 5 years I would say bump it up to 700-800w w/ 70+Amps on the 12v rail. Yes you will be overshooting at the moment, but much better to go over than under imo.

Also, just about any comp will offer far better price per performance than the qx9650, but then again its the best. Although it is overpriced and I don't support it, I say go for it if you got the money.

Perhaps a switch to ati's x48 would be a good idea as well. Crossfire tends to scale better than sli, and their boards are oc machines. Get an x2 or 3 3870s, and that will handle anything.

Oh and definately go for 24" if your considering a multiple card set-up, other wise it will go to waste.

Just some thoughts. Good luck though it looks like you will be building quite a nice rig there.:toast:

Playing on 24" or even 22" might be to much when playing games. Wouldn't you end up swinging your head alot? But then again, I can a TV tuner or hook up a satellite.
Beside Samsung 2253BW, is there one at 20" that doesn't stretch games? If that is the only one, for sure I would get that.
The X48 was what I was go for back in December, but after reading many forums the graphics seems more towards nvidia and speed (and oc) more towards X48. I'm not a big oc so I descided to go towards nvidia. At the moment nvidia and ATI are neck and neck, but just read 4xxx series by ATI are coming out now, but then you have 9900 coming out July.
I had both: P3 450mhz (still working and using it) with 440MX GPU and P4 3200+ with X800XT card. No serious problems with either, but I found that the nvidia was just a notch better.

if you want your system to last another 5 years, I would suggest holding off until the intel nehalem chips come out later this year, along with the ATI 4xxx and nvidia 9900 gfx cards are released

Also, I dont think it's really necessary to spend that much on a comp. I just did a full rebuild myself. Approximately $1250 later, I'm scoring 18144 on 3dmark06 with my CPU OC'ed to 3994 mhz. And when I figure out the combination of setting to reach a OC of 4500 mhz range, I'll be in the 20,000 point range I believe. Also, if my duo proves not to be up to par for the next 5 years, I can always drop a quad right into my current boards socket.Check my system specs for my rebuild details.

But hell, it's your money. Spend away Buck, if that's what you want.

I just went from a old ass 17" ctr monitor to a soyo topazS 24" wide screen lcd, never going back to something that small. Sitting back, eye's approximately 2 1/2-3' from the screen, I can follow everything on screen without moving my head, playing the newest FPS game(crysis, cod4). I used to have a 42" sony widescreen (old one, not a lcd or plasma)I used for playing need for speed games. I would put my little card table right up against the front of the TV, mount my saitek steering wheel to the table, and vola, can you say 42" windsheild.:rockout: WTF was I thinking when I didn't bother to put a surge protector on it.:banghead:

2 psu b/c one of my psu is working but the fan needs to be kick started to get it goin, so i'll be replacing that. As I think about it, I should have went with seagate :banghead: oh well.
For the LCD, I probably go with the Samsung 2053BW, 2043BW or 2253BW.
I just remember, I need to get a surge protector, thxs Barbaric.
