Question: Could it be a problem with the battery, even when the fans spin and the MOBO green led turns on?

I did reset the CMOS the other day, and nothing changed. I also removed the battery for a few minutes. Could it be that the battery is faulty? I'll try resetting the CMOS again tomorrow, just in case. If it's not that or the battery, then I'll just go and buy another MOBO...
No, it wouldn't be the CMOS battery preventing it from booting.
You can run a system without that battery installed, the only issue is the time and date will be out every time you restart.

I already tried with a reliable PSU. Read my past posts.

I did...I always read the entire thread before responding. Now that I have re-read your initial post and am looking for it I see that you switched PSU's. It wasn't as clear as you might think you made it.

Since you have done that, and still no joy, I'm sticking with my assessment of the motherboard being the problem.

Reading through your posts it sounds like the OP's CPU has failed. There's still power going to the board so it sounds more like the CPU than anything. But of course thats just my opinion.

Thats an idea. Check the CPU, again, that its mounted correctly, then take out the CPU check for bent/broken pins, again.

Last round of troubleshooting:

Remove everything attached to the motherboard, except your power button pins.

Since you have onboard graphics, you should be able to get into the BIOS with just the CPU and Memory. Do not connect anything else except graphics cable and power. this includes keyboard and mouse. this should cause an error on screen if the monitor is working as intended [see note].

SideNote: next time you power it up, if the fans spin up, pull the video cable (vga? hdmi? display port?) and make sure the monitor says no signal as soon as you pull it. humor me on this. If this does happen, try another monitor or another cable. I will assume you tried all this too.

I downloaded the updated owners manual.
page 35 has a small chart, page 37 (3.2.2) has squibble to read.

According to the manual, the system has POST beeps, page 24 for codes. Is it safe assume through the external speakers?

LOL= from manual= Adjust the monitor Contrast and Brightness.

still nothing? buy a new board.

Should be through the motherboard speaker. I don't think I've seen BIOS beeps through external speakers before.

Boards don't come with speakers no more, so unless he is used to building units then he probably doesn't have a speaker. Think my last one was a socket 775.

Mine has a speaker builtin (soldered on), so obviously there are some exceptions.

OK, so I followed the instructions in the manual and I cleared CMOS. To sum up the tests, here they are: In all cases, when I connect the PSU to the MOBO, the MOBO green LED light turns on.

Also, when I replaced the CPU's thermal paste a few days ago, I checked the pins (By the way, I did this AFTER the computer stopped working). They're all perfectly straight.

For everyone who hasn't read the other posts: I already tested the PC with another reliable PSU (Coolermaster Silent Pro 600W), and with my personal graphics card (GTX 660 TI)

Test Cases

Test 1:

1 ram stick connected (Tried out both sticks)
hdmi connected directly to mobo
mobo power and cpu power
nothing else connected
mobo placed on top of a cardboard box

Result: Fans Spin. No Beeps. No signal to the monitor.

Test 2:

1 ram stick connected
no hdmi connected
mobo power and cpu power
nothing else connected
mobo placed on top of a cardboard box

Result: Fans Spin. No Beeps.

Test 3:

no ram
no hdmi connected
mobo power and cpu power
nothing else connected
mobo placed on top of a cardboard box

Result: Fans Spin. No Beeps.

To the people who think that it might be the CPU instead of the MOBO: What makes you think that?

I'll start looking for a new Motherboard in the meantime. I think I'll buy a new PSU as well.

EDIT: @DeathtoGnomes I pulled out the HDMI cable while the PC was on, and the monitor said "No signal". What does this prove, again? I'm sure that the monitor and the cable work because I use them on my main PC. I'm using them right now, in fact.

I think its CPU because your motherboard is still allowing power to be distributed and thus is allowing your fans to spin. Are you only getting 'No Signal' with RAM sticks in? or is it 'No Signal' across all 3 tests?

It doesnt prove anything except that the mobo is sending a signal and the cable is delivering it. There are those rare instances that a monitor is not compatible with a particular graphics chipset, most of those issues went out with CRTs. This might happen in older PCs and using newer monitors. So chalk it up as just another simple test to add to the list.

Question on Test3: did any other lights come one, or stay on?

Q on Test1: Hmdi connected and monitor showed no signal?

Well for the sake of ruling out a graphics configuration issue did you try to boot into "Safe Mode"? By trying Safe Mode you will rid any scenario of graphic configuration issues, if it does boot up with an Image in Safe Mode then you will need to go into the graphic config and set it up for that monitor. Good Luck cuz I don't think that is the issue or else you would be able to see the Bios.

From the things I've read I believe it is the motherboard. The cpu's rarely die on their own.

might wanna go back and skim over the thread a bit more, tl;dr mb has green light, fans spin up, cmos reset several times, cant get into bios if he cant see it. OP made sure the monitor was compatible, so assume he's ordering a new board soon.

Graphics drivers load after the initial boot screen, the fact nothing is displayed on the screen proves it is not the drivers or the monitor, as that functions correctly.
Attempting to boot in to safe mode won't achieve anything if nothing is displayed.

motherboard is still allowing power to be distributed and thus is allowing your fans to spin.

This is also a common symptom of failed return voltage of the motherboard.

The BIOS has its own display code that will output to a monitor, its not a graphics driver per se, its what shows the initial boot screen on the monitor. This is way, you can boot to BIOS without anything attached except a monitor. But you still need a keyboard (or mouse depending on BIOS) to navigate the BIOS. If you dont see the initial boot screen when you boot, you have threads like this one...
